If you register your car as a classic or antique you can only legally drive it one day per week I also believe this includes cars registered as street rods too. according to the officials at DOT, in the near future a standarized enforcement and clear regulations are on the horizon. The last two years teams of state officials ( State Police & DOT) were at York and Hersey taking pictures of cars. The big complaint by DOT officials . At the meeting last year in Harisberg. Were #1 the abbuse of Antique Tags #2. the clearafacation and abbuse of the new CV black tag. and standard inforcement of the DOT regulations for all Street Rod, Collector Vehicle and Classic tag holders annual state reinspection. I heard that when you chemically dip your body, sometimes the body is so rusted, that the "part" of the panel is complety rusted through and the chemical stripping leaves a hole in it, as it is supposed to remove rust. well, in this company, what happens when it is rusted that badly? do they repair the panel and then ecoat it? Hey all I went to Google and did a search for "VA state vehicle safety inspection" I got a long hit list but this one was right up top. There is nothing in there about steering wheels. And no emmission equipment is nessasry for 1973 and older cars. All they do is look to see if its even there. http://www.vsp.state.va.us/safety.htm I would imagine that if you put your state in there it should spit out something to give you an idea of what they are going to look at and what not look at. Kelly, I have a supercharger and this makes it difficult and you have to have original steering wheel also. The inspector showed me it to me in the book. RE: [Chevelle-List] State inspection?
>Please explain more. >Texas has a rolling 25 year exemption. You shouldn't have to get anything more than a safety inspection for a 68. Skip, There's no sniffer test or visual inspection for cars over 24 years old here in Texas. The current emissions test is not applicable for cars that were made prior to 1978. When Jan 1st hits it'll be 1978. All they do is a safety inspection ($12.50)...You remember the old turn signal, horn and lights teststhat's them. RE: [Chevelle-List] State inspection?
I'm not sure what the cutoff is, but here in NY my 1968 & 1969 cars do not have to pass emissions. Only a safety inspection is required.
