I don't know about how other people do it, but my firewall was smoothed on the passenger side only. If you look close you can still see the original curves on the driver's side. The reasons we did this include the VIN tag, and the fact that I didn't want to custom make mounts for the master cylinder, fuse panel, etc. > Anyway Herb, great yellow and we're waiting for the finish. You have a > color scheme yet for the interior? BTW, Pontiac Grand Am seats work pretty > well in a 66/67. As I said in another reply the interior colors will be body color, black leather, and a light to med gray tweed. I have '85 Corvette leather power seats for it. Mounts were made on the floor so the seats would bolt in like factory. The nice thing is if I get tired of the Vette seats, a set of Recaros will bolt right in too. : ) cYa- Herb - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The bumpers are the originals - straightened and rechromed. Naturally I couldn't leave well enough alone and I had the bumper bolts shaved and studs welded on the back side before the chrome. An extra detail I had to have! cYa- Herb - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [Chevelle-List] Web page
Six weeks is a long time when you're as impatient as I am. : ) Yep, I bought the valve covers from Chevy and had them along with the intake powder coated. The completion date will be sometime in the future. I don't have a clue to be honest. I still have to get the car home, finish the interior, wire the whole car, put together the stereo, get tires for the new wheels. The list just doesn't seem to end. cYa- Herb Nice car herb: 6 weeks on the wheels ? Wow! thats not long of a wait compared to the time you have building the car. Are those valve covers from GM? How long before you are done? Larry

Tell her everybody has a red car and you want to be different, just look around! : ) > Did you have any problems with the Dakota digital dash? > Is their dash package complete? wiring/sending units?? I bought my gauges about a year ago but I haven't actually powered them up yet. The guy at Dakota Digital said they have lots of customers buy gauges years in advance of actually using them and that I shouldn't worry about any problems, they'll cover it if they don't work properly when finally installed. That's a nice piece of mind after spending $700. > What color will you use for the interior? As of right now the interior will consist of body color, black leather, and light to medium charcoal tweed. > Finally are you doing that at a professional shop? Saw several other vehicles waiting their turn. > Wherever it is, looks like a nice setup. It is at a professional shop right now. This is the place that did all the sheetmetal mods (dash, shave, etc.), rust removal, and paint. They had the body on a rack while I had the chassis at home in my garage getting the GW suspension, LS6 etc. cYa- Herb - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Gauges in the dash look kinda familiar :*) I think you'll really like the Dakota Digitals...I'm really happy with mine. I'm wondering, when people smooth the firewall, how do you reattach the cowl tag properly? I thought the rivets were "special". Does it cause any legal problems or is it only the VIN tag on the door you have to be careful about? Anyway Herb, great yellow and we're waiting for the finish. You have a color scheme yet for the interior? BTW, Pontiac Grand Am seats work pretty well in a 66/67. Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Hi Dan, > What is that yellow called? It looks a lot like either "speed yellow" from > Porsche or "fly yellow" from Ferrari. Are you sitting down? The yellow is called Vivid Canary and it was available for one year on a ... 1996 Ford Probe. : b Being a hot rodder and all, the stock color wasn't good enough, so we added a very small amount of gold pearl on top of the first and forth coat of clear. Pictures don't do it justice, you need sunglasses outside just to look at it. : ) > That's one very enterprising dash modification. > How much time do you have into this thing Herb? Let's see if I can explain this right. I designed the dash out of cardboard. Once I was happy with it, I took my creation to the body shop and The Cobbler (his self appointed name) created the metal version of my dash. In all honesty I don't know how much time he put into it but trust me when I say it wasn't cheap. cYa- Herb - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
