RE: [Chevelle-list] Paint Metal Flake
Dan…I sure am tempted to get my car painted metal flake. It’ll be this fall before I make the commitment, but want to find out if there are any major problems. I need to find a good paint shop in Houston!! It looked green/black during the day and blue/black at night. Kind of weird. --Todd

Scott, Cracking is what I heard as well, but that was almost 35 to 40 years ago for me, so surely something has to be improved, and you see many bass boats are still metal flake! RE: [Chevelle-list] Paint Metal Flake
My car is 1969's Dusk Blue Metallic. It's not "metal flake" per se, but the guy who painted it complained about there being so much metal in the paint that it tended to pool up and settle in certain areas. He also complained about it being difficult to buff out without it looking like it had fine scratches in it from the metal. Needless to say, the guy who painted my car was pretty clueless and did a "half fast" job, but apparently metal flake or metallic paint in general is tougher to get right than regular paint.
