Re: [Chevelle-list] wire ID please
John (Not Dan) :) The flat connector end of that orange wire plugs into the fan motor. (OOPS - See below) It is mounted under the pass fender, sort of behind the A/C box. The easiest way I know to connect it is to loosen or remove the pass side inner fender. If you had eyes & a flashlight on the tips of your fingers, you may be able to plug it in from up top. The orange wire connector end that looks like a fuse holder does connect to a fuse. The heavy orange wire starts at the horn relay (behind master cylinder on car) (at the bottom of the wiring diagram) goes acrossed the firewall (inside a plastic channel ) , about 3 inches before it gets to the relay on the A/C box there should be a fuse holder ( 25 or 30 Amps as I recall. I scanned a copy of the A/C wiring harness for you. It is here: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/my_photos In the Chevelle album. The relay in the center is the one that the orange wire connects to. You can also see the fuse holder that should be there. As I'm looking at the wiring diagram, it seems that with A/C , the wire to the fan motor is NOT orange, its purple. Makes things a little more confusing. I'd have to make time to go look at the wiring on my elky to be sure. BTW - The relay is still available from GM. Part # is either 7505088 or 2072624 (both are on the box). I just changed the relay about 2 weeks ago. Wenrt out & looked at the elky. Blue, orange & purple wires go into the triple connector on that relay. Orange comes from fuse holder, purple goes to the fan motor and dark blue comes from fan switch. ALSO this relay, orange wire circuit is only used for high speed fan. The lower speeds come directly from the fan switch. Gotta go now, hope I didn't complicate things for you. On 9/26/05, Dan McIntosh <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Thank you John and Herb! If that is where I am supposed to hook up power to the blower, then my harness has the wrong connector. RE: [Chevelle-list] wire ID please
Thanks Tom. Do you know why the one for the brakes is hot when the key is on? I looked around the brake unit today and didn't see anything that looked like an electrical connector. I'll also have to snoop around the right side to see where the blower lead is supposed to connect. I haven't hooked up the temp lead because I have the wrong sending unit in there.
