Re: [Chevelle-List] Strange Dilemma= which to keep vs. which to sell
Ken: You sound like a 67 Chevelle guy to me. If anything's got to go, sell the 57. It needs the most work and probably $ also. Not knowing your age, if you're 50's or younger then the 57 was your father's generation. If you're in your 60's then the choice/dilema is harder. The 67 SS sounds great and probably wins alot of awards. As another thought, maybe you could sell the 57 and the malibu and pick up a 67 Elky SS or another 67 SS to make a driver out of. I really envy your dilema though. I wish I had the room in the garage and some extra $. I'd have a 65 Elky SS driver tow car. Old car guys get nostalgic on any old car but sometimes we have to make realistic decisions. Best of luck to you in making yours. Just my 2 cents worth of thinking out loud! As a closing thought, I was at a show Saturday and saw a 55 Gasser. I have alot of memories of these at the dragstrips from even B4 I could drive, and while I enjoy looking I don't want to build or own one. I! 'm almost 55 and the era I love the most is the mid 60's. I can enjoy and appreciate what came B4 and after though. Sorry to ramble. Oh, you asked for opinions not thoughts!! Take what you want and throw the rest away. well not just being a chevelle guy, I would sell the 57, mainly because it would probably give you more money for the other two cars, and it seems like your more partial to the chevelle just my $.02 - Original Message - From: Ken's Email To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, July 04, 2003 7:09 AM Subject: [Chevelle-List] Strange Dilemma= which to keep vs. which to sell This may sound like a lame question, but rambling thoughts on too many classic cars causes me to ask opinions about selling one (or even two): - I have a 67 Chevelle SS, 67 Chevelle Malibu, and 57 Chevy Bel Air Sport Coupe a. I have to sell at least one of these vehicles. b. The 67 Chevelle SS is matching numbers and completely restored so it stays. Appraised at 32K. But, you would not want to use as a daily driver. c. The 67 Chevelle Malibu has a 383 stroker, headers, and in great condition. New gas tank, new radiator. Engine good condition. Little rust. A good driver. Not a show car.Brakes have to be upgraded. Interior original and new headliner and carpeting. Great condition. Has powerglide trans. Can be upgraded to 350 turbo. Underneath of car has the classic rust coating they used in 60's and 70's. Sounds loud and proud. Carter Carb, nice stereo system. Alarm. d. The 57 Chevy has original 283 engine and powerglide trans. Re-done interior, power steering and front disc. brakes, new gas tank, new radiator. Needs new trunk pan, and 2 new inner fender wells. Needs frame to be sandblasted. Needs to have engine bay and hood to also be sandblasted. Not a show car, but a good cruiser. So between the 67 Chevelle Malibu and 57 Chevy which one would you keep. The 57 Chevy probably has more value than the 67 Malibu. I love the way the 67 Malibu handles but guidebooks indicate value is much less than a 67 SS--or even a 57 Chevy. Well, again, lame question. But, one has got to go. Thoughts ? Happy 4th July. K McDee Do you Yahoo!?SBC Yahoo! DSL - Now only $29.95 per month!

55-57 Chevys have skyrocketed in value lately. But,I'm very partial to them so I would keep the 57. Keep the 57,you already have a kick ass 67.This way you have a "new style" car that is still almost 40 years old and an "old style" car ,when you are in the mood for 50,s cruising thatwill be a half century old in less than 4 years.Nice problem to have.
