I'm sure alot of us have days like that.  Sometimes when my 65 isn't running
right or I just don't feel like cleaning it or messing with it I think about
selling it & moving on.  But on a cruise, at a show, or a cruise-in, behind the
wheel or hanging with all the great car people I've come to know, I realize why
I've invested all the time & $$$ in this old heap of metal that I LOVE so
much!!!  When the time is right for you to make a change you'll do it and go
forward with life.  There are many factors involved.  One might be: How much a
part of you, your life, and social circle is this car or any car?

I've always wanted a 62 Vette.  So I'm getting off cheap with my 65 SS.  But we
always keep looking & dreaming.  That's part of the fun of living the
dream.  We're only a small segment of the population.  Check out all the
admirers at shows & cruise-ins who wished they owned these cars.  Sometimes I
envy the guys in nice quiet mild stockers.  Much unlike my modified car with
rumbling Flowmasters.  But again, I Love it!!!  I'm 60 & I know the day will
come when I have to give it up.  I hope to retain all the friendships & stay
active with my club cause once a gear head always a gear
head

Every now and again I consider trading my '66 for something else- just wondered
if anyone else has that temptation and whether or not they ended up doing it.

I have been going back and forth on it for about a yr now.

Hello Everyone,
Talking about buying and selling of cars. If anyone is interested, one of
our club members passed away and his wife needs the money more than the car
her husband completed prior to his death. If interested you can see it on

While there check out the all Chevy show we are hosting for Eckler's Chevy

Believe it or not, I've always wanted another El Camino, either a 1959 or
maybe a 68-72. Whenever I see the black ones or the red ones with the black
rally stripes, the gears in my head start turning!

The other possibility which is a pipe dream is a 1934 Dodge 2-door coupe.
My uncle had one when I was a kid, and it really pushed me into the hobby.
Suicide doors, rumble seat, 4-speed... I was hooked.

That's pretty much all I'd really want.

I am curious what those other one or two cars would be. The Chevelle I have now
is not my "dream car", but I do like the way it turned out and don't plan on
selling it. I am just going to have to wait to buy another until I have more
storage. I would love to find a first generation, convertible Camaro and a big
block '69 Vette.

There's really only 1 or 2 cars I'd even half consider trading mine for, and if
the opp came up I honestly don't know what I'd do.  I love my Chevelle, it's
just that I've had it for over 10 years now, so every now and again I get the
temporary lapse of swapping it for something else.  I don't have enough room at
my home for another car, so it would have to be one or the other.

She gets lots of looks on the road, it's just the whole "been there done that"
thing now.

Just wanted to hear everyone elses' thoughts, so thanks!

Jim and all.

Again like all of us, this is my opinion but I could not ever do it. I would
put the chevelle in storage and buy the new project. I could put storage
wrappings on the car and charcoal drying bags in the car and drain or something
with the fluids to allow the best outcome later on. Put he car on jackstands
and put a bunch of baits around the car and let it sit.

It's a cheap solution just adds up to my two pennies worth.

What do you think?

Many years ago I had a 1954 Truimph TR2 sport car that I got rid of. I
still regret doing it. No ways that my L6 Malibu wil be traded! It is part
of my estate!
Think twice before trading as the cost of restoration and the personal joy
received can never be made up.

You just better make sure you won't regret it. I have a couple I never
should have gotten rid of as I'm sure others have to. We left the church in
our 66 and will never sell it. She is part of the family.

That said, If there is something else you really want and can't have both,
go for it. Life's to short. Good luck!!
