This is the Email that I sent to my Congressman and two senators because of information that one of my NYC supporters taught me. If anyone of you has had this problem because you receive Social Security money and are an activist, feel free to post it here. Now, the NSA is preventing me from receiving the whole amount, which is $787.00 for 2006. Last month, the NSA absconded with $176.50 of my monthly benefit. I called the Bangor Maine office because I lived in Maine after I moved away from WA state. I spoke with Eric (don't know his last name) because Ms. Kidder, the woman who normally handles shorted out money, wasn't there that day. I asked for an investigation. I gave Eric my SS# which is ***, and told him that I knew that it was the NSA which did this to me. Now, again this month, September, the NSA, an agency of the Shadow government, caused me to be shorted out $88.00. Therefore, please get this money into my checking account, which is directly deposited electronically into my Bank of America checking account, # in Gig Harbor, WA. Also get the NSA to end this practice of me. I have made numerous people aware that the NSA has done to me because a supporter in NYC was kind to tell me that it is this agency that does this to people who are going up against the Bush administration. I can't call the 800 number for the SSA because I am in Sweden where calling 800 numbers is not free. For your convenience the SSA is at 1 800 772-1213. The Bangor Maine office of the SSA is 1 (207) 990-4530. If you call there, ask to speak with Ms. Kidder. If anyone tries to tell you that this is for Medicare, tell them that I can't use Medicare in Europe. They know that I am in Europe because I made Ellen Nichols of the Bangor Maine SSA office aware of that fact in 2004. The SSA, therefore, needs to reverse this charge and deposit all this money into my checking account, and stop charging me for it. But I suspect that it is the NSA that's doing this because the amounts vary. I am going to contact Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell also regarding this matter. It is bad enough that our government uses the psychiatric profession to betray patriotic citizens, but this is going beyond the pale. I demand that this money be credited to my account. The man behind the leak of former CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity was not presidential adviser Karl Rove, nor Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, who is under indictment for allegedly obstructing the investigation into the leak and lying to investigators. It turns out the leaker, according to news reports, was former State Department Deputy Secretary Richard Armitage, a man much loved by the media precisely because he could always be counted on to tell tales out of school. In his own words, Mr. Armitage is "a terrible gossip," an admission he made during the Iran-Contra congressional hearings in 1987. The credit for unearthing this information goes to David Corn and Michael Isikoff in their forthcoming book, "Hubris: The Inside Story of Spin, Scandal and the Selling of the Iraq War." Mr. Corn's role is noteworthy because he is the Washington editor of the left-wing magazine The Nation and an outspoken critic of the Bush administration. What's more, he did much to transform the Plame incident into the national scandal it became. Mr. Corn admits that he was the first reporter to float the idea that whoever revealed Mrs. Plame's name to syndicated columnist Robert Novak, who then published it in a 2003 column, may have violated the Intelligence Identities Protection Act. The law prohibits government officials from revealing the identity of covert officers, provided the official knew that the person was covert and obtained the information through his official duties. And since Mr. Novak cited "two senior administration officials" as his sources in the article, Democrats in Congress began clamoring for a full-scale investigation, which ultimately led to the appointment of Patrick Fitzgerald as a special counsel and the indictment of Scooter Libby in October 2005. Mr. Corn deserves recognition for reporting what turns out to be an inconvenient fact. It can't please him that the investigative trail in the Plame leak led not to hardliners in the West Wing but to a high-placed dove in Foggy Bottom. But I'm not ready to take my hat off to Mr. Corn just yet. His new revelations really beg for a mea culpa for having got it wrong in the first place when he alleged, shortly after the leak, that "there is evidence Bushies used classified information and put the nation's counter-proliferation efforts at risk merely to settle a score." Yet, Mr. Corn has decided to use the publication of the exculpatory information to reassert, once again, his attacks on the Bush White House. Mr. Corn implies that it doesn't matter who the original source of the leak was because Mr. Rove confirmed Mrs. Plame's identity when asked about it by Mr. Novak and passed on the information to Matt Cooper of Time magazine. Mr. Corn also blames Mr. Libby for revealing Mrs. Plame's identity to another reporter, Judith Miller, then a writer for the New York Times. But neither Mr. Cooper nor Mrs. Miller disclosed the information; and it was Mr. Novak's column that spurred the federal investigation that later resulted in Mr. Libby's indictment. And Mr. Armitage was Mr. Novak's primary source. Mr. Corn admits that Mr. Armitage was "a war skeptic not bent on revenge" against Mrs. Plame's husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, for publishing a 2003 article critical of administration claims that Iraq was trying to secure materials used in building nuclear weapons. But instead of acknowledging that Mr. Armitage's role in the leak undermines the whole conspiracy theory that the White House would stop at nothing -- even jeopardizing national security -- to get even with its foes, Mr. Corn says the Plame affair "remains a story of ugly and unethical politics, stonewalling and lies." The real ugliness -- indeed, cowardice -- is that the original culprit who leaked Mrs. Plame's name never came forward publicly to explain himself. Although Mr. Armitage did reveal to federal prosecutors that he gave Mrs. Plame's name to Mr. Novak, he did so only when he may have worried that he could become the target of the investigation after Mr. Novak noted in a column, three months after the original story, that his source was "no partisan gunslinger." Nonetheless, Mr. Armitage let sharks in the press circle the West Wing looking for blood for the next two-and-a-half years, knowing he was the real blabbermouth. As the insurgents have stepped up attacks, they have also encouraged and profited from the drug trade, promising protection to growers if they expanded their opium operations.“This year’s harvest will be around 6,100 metric tons of opium — a staggering 92 percent of total world supply. It exceeds global consumption by 30 percent,” Mr. Costa said at a news briefing.He said the harvest increased by 49 percent from the year before, and it drastically outpaced the previous record of 4,600 metric tons, set in 1999 while the Taliban governed the country. There were also signs of a pernicious strategy to encourage farmers to increase poppy cultivation in an effort to force a government reaction, which would then turn the population further against the government, Mr. Costa said.But he did not blame only the Taliban for the increase. He specifically accused the former governor of Helmand Province, Sher Muhammad Akhund, of encouraging farmers to grow more poppies in the months before he was removed from office. Lawrence Scott Ward, 63, Professor Emeritus of Marketing at University of Pennsylvania's renowned Wharton School of Business, was caught with child pornography in his luggage and on his laptop computer after arriving at Dulles International Airport on a flight from Brazil, according to court documents. An affidavit in support of a criminal complaint filed today in federal court in Alexandria says Ward's luggage was flagged for a more thorough inspection for possible child pornography after a customs officer noticed Ward's excessive trips to Thailand. Federal agents recovered at least three DVDs, in which Ward appears to be engaging in sexual contact with children, the affidavit reads. A video of children as young as eight engaged in sexual activity was also allegedly found on Ward's laptop computer. Ward's resume says he has been a visiting professor at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. Federal officials believe Thailand to be a well-known destination for so-called sex tourists who travel there to exploit minors. Wharton's website also lists pro bono consulting work in Brazil as one of Ward's current projects. According to published reports, in 1999 Ward was fined $2,500 and sentenced to five years probation on charges of attempting to promote prostitution and corrupt minors. In that case, he entered a plea which allowed him to acknowledge that there was sufficient evidence to convict him, without admitting guilt for those charges. The University of Pennsylvania issued the following statement today, relating to Ward's arrest, We have just learned of the arrest of Scott Ward in Virginia.
