Re: [CinCVS] Cinelerra compilation

Is it possible to have a standard libdv library on the system (in /usr] but compile and use cinerella against another library e.g. in /usr/local? I cannot find a solution so far and I need the system wide library for keeping the dependencies on gentoo. Thanks a lot for any answer. Normally, gcc is set up to pick up /usr/local before /usr. Therefore, what you want to achieve should happen automatically. Note that /etc/ld.so.conf is usually set up such that shared libraries in /usr/local/lib are prefered over those in /usr/lib. This happens regardless of from which path the library was linked as long as the one in /usr/local/lib has a suitable version number. This means that the presence or absence of /usr/local/lib/libdv.so.* when the application is *run* makes a difference. -- Hannes ___ Cinelerra mailing list Cinelerra@skolelinux.no https://init.linpro.no/mailman/skolelinux.no/listinfo/cinelerra
[CinCVS] new to list intro
I'm running FC4, and want to explore the possibility of editing self-made movies. I figured out how to scratch together images in Gimp, use ffmpeg and ImageMagick to convert into mpeg, avi and vob movies with merged sound files. I'm thinking I can tweak and edit these to produce a tutorial series that can be viewed on the web. I have svn installed. I would like the experts here to help me get cinelerra installed, correctly. I noticed there were some Fedora rpms available, and am now confused. Any advice or suggestions appreciated as to what steps to take. Hi, Tom. I'm running Mandriva 2006 myself, and I found this tutorial helpful even though it is for Ubuntu: http://placide.home.sapo.pt/cinelerra02.html. I followed the instructions, but got into trouble with install of some packages. I think it was my install code technique (I barely know how to turn the computer on/off). [CinCVS] what utility for basic file info recommended?
I want to get a handle on which utility might work for determining file format info. I downloaded a sample clip, and followed tutorial instructions. The file was a .mov, and qtinfo worked. Is there a general utility for .avi, .mpeg, etc.? My song is very quiet at this moment. But, there's hope. I took some .jpg Gimp images, created a .gif animation, used ImageMagick to convert to mpg, used mplex to merge audio and video, then convert to mov, and it plays in MPlayer. However, I need to format mov file to view in Cinelerra. To do that, I need to run qtinfo . . . . but, alas, qtinfo reports: qtinfo movie1.mov quicktime_open: error in header Couldn't open movie1.mov as a QuickTime file. So, I must discover how to control headers (whatever those are). Or, is it possible to load other formats into cinelerra? If so, what utility would give me the info to format cinelerra properly before loading?
