Re: Problem [7:71890]

2003-07-05 Thread Jens Neelsen
Hi,

first you need to enable "ip routing" to make it work.

Then your default route should look like this:
"ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" where is
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the other router interface.
Note: after the destination network follows a subnet mask (not a
wildcard mask).

Make sure you have a route in your other back to this router
(Entires in the routing table are oneway only). Try "show ip
route" to verify.

With kind regards
Jens Neelsen

CCIE's or to be in new york city? [7:71940]

2003-07-05 Thread Dae Il Kim
Hey All,
Currently studying for the CCIE written exam and looking to know if
anybody else is studying for it as well around the Westchester or NYC
area. It would be nice to gather together and create a studygroup around
this area. I have 7 routers at my own place that I play around with.
E-mail me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you're interested. Thanks for your time.

Sincerely, Dae Il Kim

Re: Cisco Training [7:71811]

2003-07-05 Thread Bikespace
I can see that point of view too, although it's an expensive 12 days, it may
be the only way if you're that busy.
When my employer needed CCNP a few years ago, I negotiated study leave
rather than going on the courses, so I could sit at home with the books and
a bunch of routers. They save a couple of grand per week.
I think it depends on what level you're at. If you've done a fair bit of
hands on anyway, then the courses can waste a lot of time going over old
ground.

I prefer the book and a bit of peace and quiet with the mobile phone turned
off. Luckily my insomnia gives me a few hours after my family go to bed. If
your family are still at home during the day, study leave may not be a good
thing.
You could always leave the book in the bathroom and do it bit by bit.
Careful if you read for too long though you can lose the use of your legs
completely :-)

Horses for courses I suppose.

Good Luck anyway

Please supply more details. How did you test and with what size packets?
Cell tax (the overhead of breaking your data down in 53byte chunks)
might account for hat you are observing.

Re: BSMSN 1.1 Vs 2.0 [7:71932]

2003-07-05 Thread Richard Deal
David,

No, the course has completely changed. The switches are different--3550s and
2950s. Most of the content is different, including topics like new enhanced
STP features, CEF, VRRP, queuing and prioritization, metro and optical, and
many other topics. I'd definitely take the newer version since, in the 1.1
course, you'll probably get a 5500 with an RSM to to multilayer switching
and this is an EOLed product; plus the 1.1 class covers the CatOS--the 2.0
covers the IOS, which is the direction Cisco is pushing.

Cheers!

ATM Bandwith [7:71937]

2003-07-05 Thread Gerard Torin
Hi guys,

Anybody know how is built the ATM4S Bandwith?. For example, In ATM`s link of
34Mbps, Is true that 4Mbps is just only header?, I ask that, because
actually my company has it. But we don4t reach the maximun bandwith of
34Mbps. Yesterday, we did stress test in the link and just only reach 30Mbps.

I thanks any comment.

Re: CCIE Lab !!! [7:71919]

2003-07-05 Thread Hemingway
you are responsible for anything that can be done with the particular IOS on
the particular equipment. with the exception of those things which
specifically are not covered.

you really need to dig deeper on the CCIE site. it's all there.

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/625/ccie/exam_preparation/preparation.html

practice labs abound. a simple google search for "CCIE practice lab" will
result in quite a few hits.

best wishes.

Re: OSPF V-Link [7:71926]

2003-07-05 Thread Nelson Herron
192.168.11.9 is the address of the R2 interface pointing at R3. They are
all serial interfaces. All of the Lo addresses (RIDs) are advertised in
ospf. I swear I don't know what happened. I just this minute reinstituted
the configuration that failed me all afternoon. It just spat out the error
message above about ten times in a minute and stopped. Now everything seems
to work fine. I have routes where they should be. I know I rebooted all of
the routers twice this afternoon to try to make sure that it wasn't a
hiccup. I even reconfigured a 4000M to replace the mc3810 at R2 - no
avail. When you said to check the "show" outputs, I thought I'd go check it
one more time to see if there was anything I hadn't noticed earlier and
everything worked. Frustrating sometimes. At least it's not MS.

Thanks for writing. Sometimes I think the boxes just need more attention
than my cussin' at 'em. You gave it. Leaves me feeling like a right eejit,
but it's working now. That's what's required. Nelson
