Re: Minimum memory requirements for IOS 12.0.9

2001-01-04 Thread Brian Howard

Hi Daniel...

I am assuming IOS for a 2501-2525 platform
and you are looking for Enterprise image with IPSEC -
ENTERPRISE PLUS IPSEC 56 : 16 MB Flash and 8 MB RAM

I am running 12.1.X code on a 2501 and 2520 which needs : 16MB of flash -
16MB RAM.

RE: Syslog Problem

2001-01-05 Thread Brian Howard

Hi Tim,

FYI

Maybe you already know this, but anytime you make a change to the
syslog.conf file. You will need to restart or HUP the syslog daemon.

Also...I have seen Cisco documentation that you need 5 tabs between
local0.debug (5 Tabs) /var/log/cisco.log (not being a NMS guru - that
may or may not be true )

Re: ISDN Simulator

2001-01-08 Thread Brian Howard

Hi Charles,

I agree with Andy...check into the monthly rate of ISDN in your area, that
may be the best
way to go.

A few months ago, another engineer and I bought a ISDN simulator from ARCA
Technologies. We decided upon ARCA mainly due to the fact that they have a
2 port BRI
simulator with built in NT1s. They were little more expensive than Teltone,
but the unit has worked fine.

I agree, its a hefty investment for your lab, and perhaps sharing the cost
of the simulator
may make it more affordable ?

Good luck

Re: subnetting and tcp/ip

Hi Charles,

The 5 is probably just an arbitrary number ..Were these IP addresses
assigned to you
by someone else ?

Nonot all network numbers end in 0.

Need to know the subnet masks in order to determine whether those addresses
are all on the same network.
