Funny thing is I thought I knew, but now I'm kinda wondering.

I do believe this predates Credence though. I was thinking Turtles, from
 67
or so. But I keep having flashes of Bob Dylan, and then of Roger McGuin of
  the Byrds.

As you can tell, I am on the verge of senility :- proving I am definitely
  NOT the youngest CCNP ;-

Janto,

Sorry I didn't get to read your email til just now. Here's a link to a
good pdf file. It might be helpful to print it up, get to the test site
15-20 minutes early and go thru this cram-doc right before the test.

seemed kinda easy(or I'm just smarter than I thawt :-O). My question is
 to
those who have used these tests and taken the BSCN. Are the questions
generally easier on the Boson than on the real exam? If they are
representative of what's on the exam then I'll be placing a call to Sylvan
  sooner than I thought.

  Thanks,

I used Boson BSCN Test#1 because I'd been studying various sources and
had no way to guage my readiness for the real exam. I found the Boson
test helpful in
showing me a few areas I was still weak in, then went in and passed the
real deal w/ a 919. Like the other Cisco exams I'd taken, the real test
was very different from the practice one; but IF you use the practice
test as a learning tool so that you actually understand the material,
then whatever format or viewpoint the question presents is not much of
an issue.

Re: passed BCMSN onto BCSN question for u?

2000-10-24 Thread Dan Henry

I just passed BSCN today, score 919 out of 1000 possible. The
resources I used were those referenced by others on this list:
'Routing TCP/IP' by Doyle, 'Internet Routing Architectures' by Halabi,
and Boson BSCN test #1. I was also fortunate enough to attend a 3-day
condensed version of the BSCN course designed for channel partners.
Everything you need is in the two books I mentioned, but it's a lot of
reading. Good luck.

Agreed again. I took the Routing 2.0 pre-test and was greatly dismayed
by what I found. After studying hard for some time, I couldn't even
understand what was being asked on probably 1/3 of the questions.

I took the CCDA COLT test yesterday, and to my dismay, despite using the
book for occational referance I missed 12 out of 52. The questions I
missed were many of the questions I looked up in the book (DCN Cisco
Press). The test contradicts the book often, and several times questions
have multiple correct answers, not in which there is a "best answer" but
there are literaly several 100% correct answers for each question, and you
are allowed to pick just one. It did open my eyes to some problem areas
for me, but this is not a route I would go for legitimate readiness evaluation.

 Cheers,

 Lance

COLT testsMy opinion of them is that they only confuse the issue. I
counted over 15 questions on the CIT-Pre exam that either had no correct
answers listed or had wrong answers; I even took the test OPEN-BOOK to
try to get through it. There is a very good reason that these questions
are not on the real exam (badly-worded questions, no correct choices,
nebulous questions, badly-worded answers, questions so detailed and
obscure that they require a Cisco white paper or field notice to answer,
etc.), and no one has made any attempt to improve them. What is amazing
about some of them is that they are direct mis-quotes from some of the
Cisco-Press books, and some were paraphrased incorrectly and
unintentionally changed the meaning. It is my belief that these questions
were not written by Cisco but rather some hired third-party who didn't
understand the material they were asking about (let's hope that this is
the case, or else they are a real embarrassment to Cisco!). I had to
inform Cisco that the CIT-8/28 exam wasn't even showing the gifs (they
have since fixed that at least). Don't use this resourse to make a
decision on whether you are ready for the real exam, just use it as a
reference to make sure that you have covered the material. The real exam
has a few nebulous questions, but not to the extent that the assessment
 exams do.

Re: ccda

2000-08-24 Thread Dan Henry

My 2-cents worth: I passed the NA first, which was very applicable.
Then only used Lammle's book and practice-test CD. The similarities are
indeed there-- OSI,etc.
My problem on both tests was my uncertainty on how long it would take
me to get through the exam, especially on the DA. (The inability to
bypass a given question and then return to it later makes it difficult)
  The case study exhibits are daunting at first because of their length;
I found myself rushing through them w/ one eye on the decrementing
timer. As it turned out, I finished with nearly an hour to spare so I
could have relaxed a little, taken more time to read each case study
more carefully. Be aware that each time a case study question pops up,
so does your access to the case study exhibit--- you don't have to
retain every detail the first time you read it.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

 Hi Robert -

I haven't read that particular CCDA book, but it should be fine - I used the
Syngress CCDA study guide and felt very ill-prepared once I got into the test, but
still managed to pass.

There are a few similarities between the tests - basic networking stuff, OSI model,
etc. What I was not prepared for was the amount of reading I had to do while taking
the exam. Be sure to pace yourself, don't try to rush through it. Take the time to
read and refer to the exhibits the test gives you. My brain was completely fried by
the time I finished this exam, but I did pass, and I'm confident you will too.

Best of luck - and say hi to my alma mater there in A^2. :-)
