RE: Is ppp authentication must [7:13944]

2001-07-27 Thread Gary Clevenger

No, your configuration will work fine with no authentication configured at
all

Re: QUERY ON FRAME RELAY, Can't ping to it's own i [7:13877]

2001-07-27 Thread Gary Clevenger

You will need to have connectivity end to end across the pvc. Even a local
ping will traverse the WAN (actually 4 times), so your remote router will
also need to be mapped correctly.

Re: QUERY ON FRAME RELAY, Can't ping to it's own i [7:13877]

2001-07-27 Thread Gary Clevenger

Actually, I thought about it again, and I am not sure you will be able to
ping your own interface on a multipoint interface due to the fact that the
ping must transverse the WAN and it must know which pvc to route across.
This poses a problem when there are multiple pvcs and your local ip is
assigned to all of them.

RE: classless routing [7:13847]

2001-07-27 Thread Gary Clevenger

It would follow the default route. This is because it is not a match for
either of the other two routes. If IP Classless were not turned on, the
packet would be dropped.

RE: traceroute [7:13724]

2001-07-27 Thread Gary Clevenger

Traceroute is simply a special ping with Time To Live (TTL) set beginning at
1. The first router that recieves the packet will expire TTL and send an
ICMP error back to the transmitting router. The transmitting router is
expecting this error and will log the IP address of the router sending the
error. The transmitting router will then set TTL to 2 on the next ping
and wait for that ICMP error to return. This continues until the Target
of the trace replies.

RE: FrameRelay Over Utilized [7:13349]

2001-07-27 Thread Gary Clevenger

This is a telco problem. Overutilization will not cause CRC's. Your
interface resets are being caused by missing/corrupted LMI packets. I would
be concerned about the high CRC errors for starters. You could also look at
show frame lmi and see how quickly you seem to be loosing LMI packets. The
interface will come down if you loose more than 3 consecutive lmi packets.
