What am I missing? HELP [7:75265]

All-

I have a CBOS IOS on a CISCO Router ( 600 series). I am trying to make this
router a filter router. When I implement the rules below, nothing comes
across. I have checked the documentation, but still can't find the solution.
Does anybody have any ideas?

Your help is well appreciated..

Craig,

The problem as I see it is you need to allow 50 hosts, to pass through an
ACL but the 50 hosts you want to pass are difficult to mask out with a
simple ACL.

The previous answers provided might be correct but are a little more than I
believe you are looking for. You are not trying to filter on source AND
destination address and do not need to filter by protocol, just source, so I
recomend a standard access-list, like I have listed below. There are
several ways to slice it up here is just one.

access-list 10 deny host 192.100.34.97
access-list 10 deny host 192.100.34.98
access-list 10 deny host 192.100.34.99
access-list 10 deny host 192.100.34.151
access-list 10 deny host 192.100.34.152
access-list 10 deny 192.100.34.153 0.0.0.7
access-list 10 permit 192.100.34.97 0.0.0.31
access-list 10 permit host 192.100.34.127
access-list 10 permit host 192.100.34.128
access-list 10 permit 192.100.34.129 0.0.0.31

If it's an option, you might want to consider re-addressing to better align
your host addresses with a subnet boundary.

For example, 192.100.34.65 0.0.0.63 covers hosts 65-126 (62 hosts)

try putting more memory in, the max i think is 24, but default is like 12.
ios 12.0 requires 8MB, so you're only really working with 4MB.

Is the laptop connected to the console port or the ethernet interface?
console port TFTP
won't work over a console connection.

If you're using the ethernet port there are still a few things that can go
wrong. Are your laptop and router directly connected? If so, are you using
a crossover cable? Can your router ping the laptop and vice-versa?

If your cabling and IP addressing are correct and you have your tftp server
software running, all should be well. Are you using Cisco's tftp server
software on your laptop? I have CISCO and 3COM If so, do you have the tftp
directory set to the
correct location? I can

Without more details it's hard to help. If these suggestions don't work,
post more details and I'll try to help you out.

Can I send the IOS through the console port of the router from my DB9
port???

John

If you have a unix box I would do this myself:

telnet cisco
show run | include Serial
copy and paste the results to a file
delete out any serials you don't want bandwidth statements for

create this script

#!/bin/bash
exec serialsfile
while read serial
do
echo "$serial" serial.cfg
echo "bandwidth 56" serial.cfg
echo "exit" serial.cfg
done

run it, paste the results into your telnet session

RE: PIX firewall

2001-02-16 Thread Hyman, Craig

I have a question about the pix firewall.. I have a network with a couple
of devices on it. Here is the network:

Frame router--- netra t1 PIX firewall--- Switch-- The
switch is where the netra t1 and the router and firewall are connected.
When I reboot my netra t1 the PIX firewall grabs the traffic instead of
sending back up stream through the Cisco firewall. I remove the firewall
everything works okay. Does pix have some type of proxy ARP that grabs the
traffic???

Please help
