Switching
Remote Access

I agree with Brian on this one, I had the same experience with a CAT3500 and
older NIC cards. Flapping IF until I hard coded it (In my case 10/half due
to CAT3 cabling). You also might upgrade the NIC drivers to see if that
helps.

Here is one other way - take the prefix that you wish to summarize and
create a static route to null 0, and redistribute it into the routing
protocol - it looks like this, for example, for the entire 172.16.0.0
 private Class B network:

 ip route 172.16.0.0 255.255.0.0 null0
 router rip
 network 172.16.0.0
 redistritute static

the default route method doesn't summarize at network boundaries, so
that's
really a non-solution unless the network isn't advertised at all.

1) IOS "T" does NOT support FE NM's, "XK" does.

2) If you put the flash in a 2600 to upgrade, how will the 2600 boot? As
time consuming as it may be, use the console port to upload the
image - OR- Use a PCMCIA flash card in a router that is up running tftp
the 3620 image to the card use it to boot the new router, then
copy to flash.(I used a 1601R to do this and it worked great)

Good luck

 1) Make sure that you have sufficient DRAM for the image to run. Check the
release notes for the CatOS version.
 2) It appears that you are trying to tftp a sup3 image to a SupII.
 3) Can you ping the tftp server from the switch? The switch from the tftp

 4) If the name of the file in your tftp folder doesn't match what you have

Re: CCNP certification

Your CCNA 1.0 is valid towards the CCNP 2.0 track. If your getting close to
having to re-certify the CCNA (It's valid for 3 years) you don't think
you'll be done with the CCNP by then, you may have to re-certify CCNA before
the CCNP will be valid. Here is a link to the CCNP site.

VLAN leakage is when traffic destined for a certain VLAN (ie: broadcast

Re: How to Make Frame Relay Redundant?

2001-03-19 Thread John Kurkjian

Where are the FR's going (P2P or Internet)? As previously mentioned, to
really be redundant you need a second router. If this is an internet
connection to 2 different ISP's, a BGP solution would provide redundancy.

Please forgive me if this topic has already been explored.

I am considering the purchase of a 3640 in order to provide Internet
access
to our office at 100 Mbps. I will outfit it with 2 10/100 2-port modules.

I am also considering making our Frame Relay network redundant by adding
two
1-port T1 w/CSU WICs, however, with only two FR lines coming in how would
I
make this a fault tolerant solution without having to obtain two more FR
circuits? HSRP is definitely being considered. Obviously, an Ethernet
hub
or switch is out of the question.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
