BSCI 640-901 [7:74922]
Hi there, I have registered for this exam for the 22nd of this month. I had the option of the newer exam (642-801) but I chose this one. The reason being the fact that this exam covers more material than the newer one. However, I guess there is a difference in knowing your technologies and passing a paper. :) Anyway, I would really appreciate any tips for preparing for the exam. Thanks a lot! RE: BSCI 640-901 [7:74922]
Hi there, The book I am using is the Cisco book for the old BSCN exam. However, I am reading stuff off the Cisco web-site because that is a good place. Also, I am using Internet Routing Architectures by Sam Halabi. I am looking forward to the simulations though because they are the ones that seem to test most of your practical experience. Nonetheless, I have my fingers crossed till after the test results come. :) Cheers, Kenan Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7i=74926t=74922 -- **Please support GroupStudy by purchasing from the GroupStudy Store: http://shop.groupstudy.com FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html
Re: Bakup Interface with Wireless! [7:70410]
Dear Ms. Priscilla Thanks alot for your answer but the problem still remains there. The explanation is as under:- I don't think you have to be running a routing protocol to use Dialer Watch. Routing protocol independent—Static routes or dynamic routing protocols, such as Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (IGRP), Enhanced IGRP (EIGRP) or Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) can be used. This is very true but you see by RP Independent it means that one can use *any* Routing Protocols. As far as Static Routes are concerned, in that case the interface to which that static route is pointing should go down so that the router would remove that specific network from its Routing Table and the dialer watch would initiate the backup link. You see the basic criterea using Dialer Watch is as under: 1. Whenever a watched route is deleted, Dialer Watch checks to see if there is at least one valid route for any of the defined watched IP addresses. My problem is that my main Wireless Link never goes down and show the status UP even when its not working. I am not using any routing protocol so the only choice is to use Static Route. Now as the Wireless Link never goes down the static network entry doesn't remove intself from the Routing table and thus the backup link never initiates. I suppose the best solution would be to use a routing protocol just btw the sites so that I can watch for the network part. I hope I have explained my problem to you. Thanks to all of you. If you can find any other solution then I would be grateful. Thank You once again! -Kenan Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7i=70483t=70410 -- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bakup Interface with Wireless! [7:70410]
Hey! I have a branch office connected with a Wireless Link. I want to configure my ISDN link(which can also connect to the same branch office) as a Backup Interface with the wireless link. The problem which I am facing is that when my Wireless link goes down, it doesn't show line protocol down and the line is up, line protocol is up is always there even when the Wireless link is not working. Therefore my backup ISDN interface never comes up. I would really appreciate any help/suggestions in this regard. Thanx alot in advance! cheers, -Kenan Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7i=70410t=70410 -- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
PDM for PIX [7:69852]
Hi there, I have a PIX 515E. I am trying to use PDM on it. The configuration is IOS version 6.0 and PDM version 1.0. The client is Windows 2000 with IE 6.0 and all the service packs intalled. When I try connecting to the PIX via the browser, somehow it just doesn't work. Everything else seems to be okay. PIX is configured to accept PDM connections from the client. Any suggestions how to fix it? Is there some encryption or something that needs to be enabled/disabled? Boson Router Simulator [7:63395]
Hi there, I had heard about Boson Router Simulator for a long time now. Having not much to do, I decided to give it a try. The evaluation version seems to be much slower than the actual thing. What I need to know is that is the software worth the investment? Or should I just go for proper hands-on only? Any feedback is appreciated. PIX firewall simultaneous connections [7:62575]
Hello groupies, I was reading the PIX book and it apparently said that the no. of connection supported by a PIX firewall (higher order) is 500,000. Does this mean that upto 500,000 sessions can be established or something else? If so, what do I do if I have a thoroughput of say 2 million users? Thanks in adv. RE: CCNP BOOKS [7:61303]
Hello, You can download the supplements from the Cisco site itself. For eg, they have the supplement for BSCN book, which features IS-IS. So download it and use that. The link to the site of course is www.cisco.com and search for the missing topic. As for the exam, I would suggest to definitely print out the course outline first and make sure you have covered all the topics. If you think something is missing in the old book, just get it off the site. There is more material on the site than you would need for the paper. But it is definitely very comprehensive and handy too. RE: Switching Exam [7:60934]
Hi there, First of all, sorry for the late reply. I have been really busy with other committments. Secondly, I was really upset to hear you couldn't clear the BCMSN exam. I just got a few tips which I used to study. Maybe they might work for you as well. 1. Underline/highlight the important points 2. Practice everything very thoroughly 3. Write on the top of your book Everything is difficult before it is easy! Trust me, I had a tough time myself trying to grasp the concepts. But one you get them, it is not really that though. Sometimes, you might feel that the material is not enough so refer to the Cisco site for help on things like BackboneFast etc. But overall, it is really not that tough. Go through the whole book thoroughly 2 or 3 times and underline/highlight all the major points for constant review. Also, keep a printout of the exam outline with you and mark the topics as you cover them to be sure nothing is left out. Best of luck on your next attempt. I have faith you'll clear it this time... RE: CCNA/CCNP home Lab setup [7:60727]
Hi there, I suggest get 3 2600 series routers. Even though 2500 would also do, 2600 has some value added services which the 2500 don't offer. Just a thought! :) There are other things needed which I am sure others will help you out with. Good luck with your lab set-up. CCNP - which paper to give next? [7:60735]
Hi there, I am on my way to doing the CCNP certification. Having good hands-on, I decided to attempt BCMSN first and then I did my CIT. Now, I having taken a break, I want to move on to my next paper. I can't make up my mind whether I should attempt BSCI or BCRAN next. I feel inclined towards BSCI 'cos routing fascinates me more than remote access. However, I just want to know what you guys think is the best way to go about it. From what I've heard, BCRAN features some hard-to-do hands-on so I am probably leaving it aside for now. Any help is greatly appreciated so thanks in advance! :) Cheers, Kenan Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7i=60735t=60735 -- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

RE: Please recommend some books for ccnp [7:60355]
Hi there, COngratulations on clearing your CIT exam. My personal experience so far has been that the best guides for the exams are the official Cisco books themselves. Otherwise, a lot of books cover the same materials but I don't know how much of a help they'd be. As for the Foundations vs. individual papers, hmmm. The FRS paper is tougher because you have to clear all the sections in one go and the no. of you questions you are allowed to score incorrect is much more limited (per subject). Also, FRS paper requires extensive studying. So, if you think you can manage all 3 in one go...go ahead! :) But otherwise, play it safe and take one at a time. All depends on how much you know. Good luck with the rest. Take care. RE: BCRAN or BSCI or both? [7:58942]
Hi there, Yes I have cleared BCMSN and CIT. I do have a solid grounding in both but I myself don't feel too good about BSCI (especially after IS-IS) so I think I will try my luck with BCRAN. I have hands-on experience so I don't think there should be much of a problem. Besides, I will study before appearing for the test. Am counting on the official course book and Boson so will keep you guys posted as to what turns out. BCRAN or BSCI or both? [7:58942]
Hi there, I have given 2 of my CCNP papers. Now I am confused whether to appear for the remaining papers or wait for a while and then give them. Also, if I should give the paper(s), should I appear for BCRAN or BSCI first? And what should be the time frame in which I should finish giving both the exams? All suggestions are most welcome.
