Re: Yet another CCIE R/S Written Passed message...
Congratulation phil .. :) Any small study advise you can give .. "other than not study .. 30 days :) it is a hard one" Is there Anyone how score 100% of the Written Test .. !! Good Luck in the Lab .. Mohammed Hakim, CCNA R/S - Original Message - From: Phillip Heller [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, October 31, 2000 3:12 AM Subject: Yet another "CCIE R/S Written Passed" message... Interesting turn of events today turned out to be. I purchased a voucher long ago that expired 11/1/00, so I scheduled the exam for 10/30 thinking I'd call and postpone my exam till I was ready(which you can do). Unfortunately, you have to call 1 business day in advance. I had forgotten the exam was today until I heard the familiar "duh-dah duh-dah duh-dah" of the Palm Pilot alarm. Needless to say, I uttered several explatives as the exam was in 30 minutes and I hadn't studied in more than a month. Anyways, score breakdown: Cisco Device operation 100 Networking Theory 83 Bridging and Lan Switching 70 TCP/IP 75 IP Routing Protocols 90 Desktop Protocols 37 (-- yuck) Performance Management 66 WAN 66 LAN 100 Security 33 (-- yuck) Multiservice 100 Passed with a 76%. Used the following for study materials. Cisco Certification: Bridges, Routers, Switches for CCIEs Cisco IOS Solutions for Network Protocols Volume I: IP Inside Cisco IOS Software Architecture Exam Cram ACRC Exam Cram CLSC Exam Cram CCIE R/S And, I've got a good bit of experience in the field working for a tier I ISP. At work, I work with anything from a 1605's to 12016's (switches inclusive). Unfortunately (or fortunately, dependent upon your viewpoint), we're a strictly IP environment; hence the 37 in Desktop protocols. I'll have to work on that. All in all, I'm quite happy considering that I haven't studied in a while. I will certainly not be quite so haphazard with the scheduling of the lab! I'd be happy to field any questions that don't put me in violation of the NDA. Q2) What are the type of job or you can say job names for a "CCDA or CCDP" other than Network designer ..!! Q3) For the CCIE Design tarck or exam,is true thatyou do not need to know "CLI" commands (ex: BCSN, MCNS .. have many IOS commands ..etc" If Yes .. is it true that a person how Pass CCNA, CCDA take the CID than jump to the CCIE Design tarck and pass it (write and Lab) can he have the CCDP "waved" or both the CCNP and the CCDP? .. for the CCIE R/S I have red he can wave the CCNP and take the CID in order to have CCDP !!. Q4) Anyone who have a good drawing skills "have some good CAD skills ex:Autocad ver 9 to 2000 !! .." can this help him in his work or no need for it .. (as a Network Designer). Q5) I am working on the CCDA right now, but I did not know why is the Deign track "CCDA, CID exam" is hard from the other support "CCNA, CCNP" .. !! is it the Case study stuff !! TR supports multicast !!
Hello group, About my last question: Does the Token Ring (IEEE 802.5) support Multicasts (sending packets to a group of devices) .. I have two answre saying yes, i have asked an CCIE .. he told me: TR does not do multicast, IBM or IEEE. It does use functional addresses kinda like multicast, butthere's a verylimited set of these. Hello and Thanks for the help in advance .. First ..Sorry to be late I have passed the CCNA - R/Swith 841/1000 .. I did not do to much reading .. I have used the CCNA 640-507 + ICRC (Cisco Press) .. "Not a very good score :( "Took it to fast ..!!) Second: about the question which is faster a Switch is faster then the Bridge .. let say the a the switch is using the Store-and-forward method and it is in a large network (the switch) it have many ports .. but the Bridge only like a real bridge that connect two points !! .. Is the bridge are old fashion or extinct ?? Third: About the Does the Token Ring (IEEE 802.5) support Multicasts as I said before in the ICRC book page 59 it said it support Multicasts .. but another book the CCNA 640-507 Guide (New book) at page 721 question number 22 it said that: (( Multicast is not allowed on Token Ring; broadcast is allowed on all LAN types ..etc)) I have finished the CCNA but I need to know is the Token Ring for IBM is different From the IEEE 802.5 or what ?? Another thing is it true that I new Token Ring will be ready with 3 Gb/sec ore more .. and idea. **Last question if any one can help (general): about the Nortel Certification .. Any one have the NNCNA the Nortel Networks Certified Network Architect (NNCNA)if yes .. is it equal to the CCIE or even higher as the company (nortel say it) .. To have it you need to have many certification and if you have an CCIE you will have about 150 point (need about 500 or 550 point) but there certification Nortel Networks Certified Design Expert (NNCDE)if you have it you get about 150 or 200 (more than if you have an CCIE !!) the ACSE (Alcatel) you have 150 points if you have MCSE you have 75!! and if you have CCNA you get 50 points !! .. you need to have many certification 5 years exp. + 2 years in network design ... then you go to stage 2 test !!!the strange is that the MCSE give more points than CCNA but many say that the CCNA is higher than the MCSE (there is about +25 world wind MCSE .. in the MCSE2000 about 70-80% will go off !!) any idea ..!! is it good for a job to have many Network certifications from (Cisco, Norte, Lucent, 3Com, Alcatel .. etc) Thanks for your help .. :) Mohammed Hakim - CCNA

Hey, I barely got in with a 794, BUT I'm in there! Thanks to all who helped out. I used all the usual CISCO PRESS and Todd's books. I bought a Sybex E-trainer for $110 (had to buy it local) and used it once, researched the rest. I am among the confused though about whether I'm supposed to go online to sign an agreement, thought I did that on the test? I think it was the survey first, then Career Cert, last...I think. I'm headed for CCNP track, if I win the lottery. Without money, I'll go for CCDA to stall for some time. :) Love, Dale Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ___ UPDATED Posting Guidelines: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/guide.html FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED] ---
