Sorry to get on my soapbox, but this post bugs me.
So please send replys to means what?
Maybe this (I paraphrase Bob Niland below):

- I'm a lurker in this group.
- I've never contributed anything here , and don't ever expect to.
- I want the rest of you to spend time addressing my issue.
- My time is more valuable than yours.
- I don't want you to share the answer with anyone else here, even if
the question is of general interest.
- I only want isolated answers, with no one else correcting any
misinformation or completing any missing information.
- I can't be bothered subscribing to this news group long enough
to read responses.
- I won't even check groupstudy to read responses there.
- Bye.

Re: ISDN Lab [7:20182]

2001-09-17 Thread RCL

No
Every effort has been made to try to simulate ISDN without a simulator, but
todate no one has come up with a fix. You need a simulator.
Try:
http://www.teltone.com/
  Brad Ellis wrote: Derrick,

You can not simulate an ISDN connection without some type of ISDN
switch...whether it be the telco ISDN switch, or an ISDN simulator, you need
something to act as the CO. You could purchase an ISDN line from the
telephone company, and split the B-channels. That would probably be the
cheapest way to go, but you couldnt do multilink (at least between the two
split B-channels) and you would loose portability (if you needed it). The
most beneficial way to go is with an ISDN simulator. They have excellent
resale (at the moment) and are pretty convenient. You can check out one of
our websites, www.cheapisdn.com for a low cost simulator. Add a couple of
2504s (the lowest cost 25xx ISDN routers), and you should have yourself a
pretty good ISDN home lab. If you want other info, please email me off
line.

On a side note, Ive heard rumors that Cisco was looking into putting ISDN
switching capabilities into their 26xx routers and higher. Can anyone
validate this?

the most beneficial solution ? I didn't think you could setup a router to
act as an ISDN switch like you could for a frame- relay switch.

Re: Cisco Pro vs 2501

receive this Cisco Pro, basicly I could not up grade

to Cisco's web site did a search on Cisco Pro -
downloaded a patch - result:

SH VER came back as Cisco 2501 and I was able to
upgrade the flase to 11.x, but case is still white
:-).

Humm.. I should just look for my receipt and
post his name, I sure he is still do Cisco and someone
in our group probablly knows him. - Well somethings

Hope that I answered your question.

RE: Ping (Source Quench)

2001-01-15 Thread RCL

SOURCE QUENCH:

The Source Quench message is used when IP needs to
perform congestion control. An intermediate router or
the destination host unsually sends an ICMP Source
Quench message for every datagram that it has to drop.

The source, on receiving the Source Quench message,
loweres the rate at which is sends the datagrams. It
keeps lowering the rate as long as it receives the
Source Quench messages. Since there is no ICMP
message to indicate that the originator of the Source
Quench message is releived the host begins increasing
the rate when it stops receiving the Source Quench
messages.

It continues to do so until it either reaches the
maximum rate or starts receiving the Source Quench
message again.
