VPN and NAT

2001-02-22 Thread Tony Russell

I am trying to use a vpn client to get to our corporate network. I am using
a private address space and natting at my router to provide Internet access.
When I try to VPN from a workstation on my LAN it fails.

Has anyone gotten a Windows 2000 machine to VPN when NAT is involved. What
will it take to make this work?

Cisco Documentation CD and Win 2000

2000-09-27 Thread Tony Russell

Has anyone figured out this problem? I went to the Cisco site and found
some documenation on how to fix this problem but it doesn't work. It tells
you to change an Internet Explorer registry setting and all will be fine.
Not.

After applying the recommended changes, I still can not use the
documentation cd. I get an error telling me that "search.exe has generated
error and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program".

Please advise

W2K Radius

2000-10-24 Thread Tony Russell

I had Win NT 4 Radius server up and running and using it with a 1605
configured for AAA. When I upgraded the box to W2K, the router will no
longer authenticate using the Radius server. Does anyone know why this
would be? I figured a simple upgrade shouldn't change anything since my
router config stayed the same. What is it about W2K Radius that is
different?

Total bandwith used

2000-11-15 Thread Tony Russell

Is there an easy way to determine the amount of bandwidth currently used
(not the available bandwidth) on a link. On a single ethernet interface,
you could do a sh int e0 and find the 5 min avg for output in bits/sec. How
would you do this for a bundle of BRI's. Would you have to go to each
channel on each BRI and add them up or is there an easier way?

Software recommendation

2000-11-21 Thread Tony Russell

I am looking for a piece of software that will allow me to keep a database
of router configs. It would periodically and automatically get the config
from a router and store multiple copies of the config if required. I don't
know if CiscoWorks will do this or not, but I am not looking to spend
CiscoWorks money on this.. Anyone know of (free/cheap) software that will
accompish this

Adtran Atlas 550... [7:28102]

2001-12-04 Thread Tony Russell

Would anyone be willing to walk me through a config of an Atlas 550. I am
trying to take a PRI (in network slot 1) and split it up via a Quad PRI
module so that I can connect two poly com devices (1/2 PRI each). Is this
possible. Please e-mail me. I am willing to make a Long distance call if a
voice conversation is easier.

Microsoft Radius (IAS)

2000-08-09 Thread Tony Russell

Has any successfully used Microsoft Radius (Internet Authentication Server)
with a cisco router. If so, what is the trick. Any special things to know
about.

I installed IAS and configured and started the service on my NT box. Set
the shared secret and client address fields.

I also setup the router using the approriate radius server, key and aaa
commands.

When ever I try to authenticate, it fails. I can check my event log in NT
to see that the router did try to use the Radius server for authentication,
but it fails everytime. Any tips.

Dynamic ip address on serial port

2000-06-06 Thread Tony Russell

Hello,
I have used a Cisco 800 series router before and was able to connect
to my ISP and get a dynamically assigned ip on BRI0. I am now trying to
setup an async serial port with USR modem attached to connect to an AS5300.
I can connect and get serial line up, line protocol up but cant pass any
traffic across. My question is: Can you get a dynamically assigned address
for the Serial port?

async port and modem help

2000-06-07 Thread Tony Russell

Please reply to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I have attached a modem to the serial port (async) of a 1602 (installed
WIC). I can dialup and connect to an AS5300 but can't get any traffic to
cross the link.

Here is the config of the S1
interface Serial1
 physical-layer async
 ip address negotiated
 no ip directed-broadcast
 encapsulation ppp
 keepalive 10
 dialer in-band
 dialer idle-timeout 300
dialer map ip XX.XX.XX.XX modem-script dialin system-script login broadcast
XXX
 dialer hold-queue 10
 dialer-group 1
 async mode dedicated
 fair-queue 64 16 0

I have a static route
0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 serial 1

and a dialer-list
dialer-list 1 protocol ip permit

When I try to ping the address in the dialer map statement, the modem
connects and dials into the AS5300 all looks well with chat scripts, PPP
negotiation and I get an indication that serial 1 is up and line protocol is
up. If I try to do anything using S1, no traffic goes across. Eventually,
the link drops due to the timeout 300 statement.

My thoughts are that no traffic is getting routed through S1 even though I
have a static route. If I try to ping any address other than the one in the
dialer map, nothing happens

Any ideas.

Interactive mode on async dialin

2000-06-08 Thread Tony Russell

Pls responde to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (e-mail issues with my curret address)

I am trying to dial into a modem connected to a 1602 async serial WIC. I
can dial the number and the modem picks up but I get nothing in my terminal
window.

I have set async mode interactive on the S1. From my research, this appears
to be all that is needed to allow user to interact with router instead of
going straight to ppp or slip.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Thanks

ISDN TA connected to AUX

2000-07-06 Thread Tony Russell

Don't ask me why but we are connecting ISDN TA's to the Aux port of a router
for backup purposes. I have gotten everything to work but was wondering if
anyone knew why the dialer map statement does not appear to work with ISDN
TAs. I've done similar things with USR modems and dialer map works fine.
When I use dialer map with ISDN TA, and debug the dialer, I get a message
saying no dialer string. Because of this, I ended up using the

chat-script
dialer string
script dialer

commands to get the TA to dial.

This config works fine and TA dials central location and connects.

Can anyone tell me why dialer map doesn't work in this situation?
