Hi all

I plan to take BCRAN (640-505) exam on next Monday. I hear that there are
more than 10 questions you need manually type the command seleted from a
command list. I want to know: Do I need add the command prompt [like
(config)# or (config-if)# etc.] at the head of the real command?

Hope the one who has taken the exam give me the answer.

thanks.

Strange Q [7:5214] - Solution [7:5373]

2001-05-21 Thread Vivek Singh

As i had put forward the question to the group, I wud also share the
resolution.

1. the reason coz of which server stop responding to the traffic from the
first route is that since it has new default route and therefore responds on
that and that show for lack of ping response.

2. After chnaging the metric back to 1 for the first default route solves
the problem coz nowserver has two default route with same metric and
seeing the path the packets have transvered...it is able to snd packets back
thru appropriate route.

Hello all,

I am perplexed by this scenario, wud appreciate yr comments.

1. Cisco router connected thru BRi port to an isp

2. Ethernet post of the router connected to a hub.

3. one NIc of an NT server with a Public address goes that hub

4. One TA also goes to serial port of NT server

5. As soon as TA makes and an connection to an other ISP, you can not reach
the public IP address i.e point 3

---

observation

as soon as TA makes an connection to second ISP, new default route is
created with and metric of 1 and existing default route thru that route is
downgraded to metric 2.

--

Question

How come traffic from router -> Server is affected by changes of default
route on server i.e charters tic of server-> router traffic.

point to be noted is that I can still reach servers public IP from the
router but not if I take bri port as a source.

Now have to start thinking about CCIE writen.

Hi Dave,
I am using EIGRP as routing protocol, but this will
come into account when i have to reach the remote LAN,
rite now EIGRP is initiating DDR, i m testing for dial
backup, offcourse when the communication will begin,
my task would be just to add two commands on the
primary link. The issue is that 'show int bri 2/0 1'
also shows the bri B channel as UP but the two peers
dont ping each other, i think there is no need of a
routing protocol rite now at this stage. For pinging
to your neighbor of same subnet which is directly
connected, u dont need a routing protocol. Now wat to
do ???

RE: what's the RSM utilization and what slow down network?

2001-04-09 Thread Vivek Singh

Hi...

I need to solve a network slowness problem. First, let me tell you about
our network. All our PCs are connected to 2 X 5500 switches with RSM and
divided into 3 VLANs 1,2,3 on each swtich. Both switches are connected to
each other via trunks and HSRP configured. VLANs are routed via RSM in
5500s. By right, implementation of VLAN can increase the performance and
speed, and 5500 switch also a high end switches. But our network is very
SLOW. All parameter have been checked including the duplex type and speed
of the ports match with NIC. I suspect can it be the bottleneck of routing
process in RSM due to overwhelming packet for routing? Each 5500 are
connected about 40 PCs. How to determined the utilization of RSM ? what is
the limit?

Besides, both 5500 are connected to the company WAN via two 1700 routers.
And our network is extremely slow when accessing the WAN especially on the
Citrix traffic although we have prioritize the citrix traffic. I don't know
what is the reason? We have two links 128K, and 256K, it should be fast. I

doubt whether the bandwidth is correct or not? When I see the output of #sh

interface as shown below. Can u say that it is 256K ?

>>> Dear Friend : BW 256 Kbit is the answer
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 256 Kbit, DLY 2 usec

>>> router is not poor but implementation cud be poor or bad.!!! check out
bandwith utilization etc.

I heard from my friend that Cisco router is poor in handling citrix and
netbios traffic, is that true?? We are using OSPF in our WAN, but RIP in
RSMs. Could the difference in routing protocol slow down the network?

Subject: debug ip error

Hi Group,

Recently due to some problems my colleague issued a debug ip error command
on the rsm.

The problem is we could not stop the process at all. We tried using the no
debug ip error but it never came out of the process, there was a lot of
details regarding routing info . Luckily for us we had HSRP.

We had to reboot the RSM , manually i.e, remove the card and insert it back.
Is this a common thing that we cant stop the debug ip error process.

Thanks

Gayathri
