BGP [7:54262]
OK...I've been dreading this. It's time for me to start getting into the nuts and bolts of BGP. I don't wanna spend $70 bucks right now on a book and I don't want a TOME of a thousand pages. I'm looking, right now, for the briefest, but full reference for it. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance. -John Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7&i=54262&t=54262 -- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: BGP [7:54262]
I am also new to BGP, I read some Halabi , Cisco docs, and CCNP routing (sybex and Cisco press) The best refernce to start with , in my opinion, is BGP4 Interdomain routing in the internet John W. stewart III 160 pages $22 http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=0DU8A4O9G Y&isbn=0201379511 ""John Hutchison"" wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... > OK...I've been dreading this. RE: BGP [7:54262]
I would start with Basaam Halabi's Internet Routing Architectures, it is a great reference and you can probably pick it up used at a very reasonable price, and it isn't too large. From there I would go to Routing TCP/IP Volume II, it has a very large and detailed BGP section. ~-Original Message- ~From: John Hutchison [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] ~Sent: Thursday, September 26, 2002 3:12 PM ~To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~Subject: BGP [7:54262] ~ ~ ~OK...I've been dreading this. Re: BGP [7:54262]
If you want brief but excellent, get BGP4: Interdomain Routing in the Internet by John W. Stewart. It's an excellent primer on BGP. RE: BGP [7:54262]
Not to belabor the obvious, but if you don't want to buy a book right now there's always good ole CCO. http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/459/bgp-toc.html has lots of nuts and bolts and runs 71pp in pdf form. I think Halabi's original paper, the one he later expanded into his book, was once on CCO too. I don't know if it's still there, maybe Ciscopress made them take it down :) Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7&i=54272&t=54262 -- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: BGP [7:54262]
There is also a lot of good info on CCO and though I haven't checked lately I'm sure NANOG would also be a good resource and these are free. The information provided at the Cisco site is really good. I have a number of books on this, but every time I go to Cisco, some things get clearer. http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/459/18.html (BGP Technical Tips). Here's a couple more good links. If you do a search on Cisco's website, there is a ton of BGP stuff out there.
