Installing new IOS on new flash [7:36457]
Hi, This is my first post so if I did anything incorrectly, please let me know. I have recently replaced my 8 meg flash with a 16 meg flash memory on a 2611. Is there a faster way of loading the ios image onto this blank flash than using xmodem. yes - download a copy of Cisco's Router Software Loader from CCO. I believe you need a CCO login to get to that software. http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/rsl HTH Chuck Lan Wong wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... Hi, From rommon you can use TFTP (tftpdnld command) after setting 4-5 variables listed by the tftpdnld command if they aren't all set. However, for the tftpdnld to work the bootstrap/rommon version has to support a interface you have installed. IE: A newer FastEthernet Net Mod may not be recognized by rommon. See the following URL for more on 'tftpdnld' on a 2600. http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/471/76.html --- Lan Wong wrote: Hi, This is my first post so if I did anything incorrectly, please let me know. RE: Installing new IOS on new flash [7:36457]
Welcome to the list. Here's the easy way: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/471/76.html Follow the example EXACTLY! Use upper case letters where they show upper case. Don't use any spaces. Several months ago I learned this the hard way on a 1750. This last Sat eve I breezed through a Flash upgrade on a 2621. I assume that you have a tftp application. If not, search on web sites such as www.tucows.com for Pumpkin. I use tftp32.exe by Ph. Jounin. I'm not sure where to find it. You can connect your PC's ethernet port to the router's FIRST ethernet interface either via a hub or via a crossover cable. One of the tftpdnld parameters is DEFAULT_GATEWAY=. I just used an unused address from the subnet shared by the router and my PC. You should have a terminal emulation program running such as HyperTerm or teraterm on your PC. Connect the PCs serial port to the console port of the router. Ping the router from the PC and the PC from the router. If successful you're good to go. Good luck. -Original Message- From: Lan Wong [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, February 25, 2002 8:05 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Installing new IOS on new flash [7:36457] Hi, This is my first post so if I did anything incorrectly, please let me know.
