If you have other 3600 swap the flash and perform the password recovery in
the other one, if it continues to show garbage on the console port you
probably have something wrong in the console settings.

Hi all,

I have just acquired a 3600 router.  There seems to be a problem with the
console, whenever I connect, it just produces garbage.  I can get into it
through the serial connection.  However, I don't know the password and the
only password recovery techniques I've found is to go in through the
console.  Does anyone know of another way to either wipe the entire config
or recover the password.

make sure your com settings are correct on your terminal program: 9600 bps,
8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, hardware flow control.

Try changing the baud rate on your serial connection to 115200, this is done
within your terminal program, and see if the output is legible.  If not, try
all the speeds one by one.

Try different baud rates until the garbage becomes legible is my 
guess.  Your config-reg is likely changed though without a password it 
is difficult to view.

Looks like a baud rate mismatch.

Can you please check what's the baud settings both at the Rom Monitor
and the console login .
