If you are using IOS 10.2 or before...it will not allow subinterfaces.

Re: Could not create subinterfaces

2000-06-22 Thread Brad Ellis

Looks like to me he's using V11.3!

You can create a sub-interface...you just need to specify the type
afterwards! hit '?' after you type in the command, ie:

int s0.1 ?

I'm not in front of a router right now, so I may be wrong, but...I believe
you need to be in interface config:
3102(config-if)#int s0.1

Re: Could not create subinterfaces

2000-06-16 Thread Paulo Roque

Hello Omer,

Are you using frame relay encapsulation on int s0? You can only create
subinterfaces in that encapsulation.
And consider the following: If you define a subinterface for
point-to-point operation you cannot reassign the same subinterface
number to be used for multipoint operation without first rebooting the
router.

Re: Could not create subinterfaces

2000-06-16 Thread John Neiberger

Is this a frame relay interface? If so, then you either need
"point-to-point" or "multipoint" after the "int s0.1".

Notice that it didn't tell you it wasn't possible, just that your command
was incomplete. In a situation like this, type the command exactly as you
did before (or just hit up-arrow) and then a space and then hit "?". It
will list the possible commands that it expects from you.
