I thought that this board was specifically targeting all things Cisco?

We are aware NT and Novell are not networks-that they are operating systems
to facilitate utilization of particular systems that are networked together.
Most everyone understands job titles are hacked, cobbled and
abbreviated...Network Systems Admin, Systems Admin, with the billions of
acronyms floating about I'm sure we will disagree on the best usage of
all-but at the end of the day...where does this issue stand in relative
importance?

The job titles have little importance, but I don't see anywhere in your job

Clark,
Thanks for bringing some interesting opportunities to the list. Come again.

Michael,
Do you know something negative about these jobs or this recruiter that you
are not telling us? Have you already corresponded with Clark to verify that
these jobs do not involve Cisco or internetworking? If you are just being
rude because Clark is not offering anything that works for you today, then I
would suggest your Delete button will do the job with less fuss.

RE: DELL

2000-05-24 Thread McElhaney, Scott

Why do you have to be so stupid. You have made some idiotic assumptions
about this posting. This is a jobs list and someone is posting a job in a
related field and you are so high and mighty to assume this has nothing to
do with Cisco?? I am so tired of lame people like you in these lists. I have
been on this list for a few months now and have seen few real job postings
from anyone. Now someone actually puts up real jobs and you, Mr. "Cisco God"
surely would never need to look for a job. Or are you just some flake who
has nothing better to do but defame and stifle progress. Clark from Dell at
least has a real email address, not some, "I'm going to get a hotmail
address and call myself a Cisco God even though I don't know a darn thing
about Cisco routers" email address. I would much rather see actual job
postings as spam than your idiotic replies. See, I have a real email
address. Don't you Mr./Mrs./Miss Cisco God? Some of us people in the real
workforce aren't Cisco-only centric. Are you? That's too bad.

Which list? Please note that this is cross-posted to both the
cisco groupstudy list and the jobs list. So, for at least one
of the mentioned lists, it is most certainly _not_ a "jobs list".

The jobs list was created to keep the noise level on the study list down,
and cross-posting to both not only defeats that purpose but demonstrates
rudeness and/or cluelessness on the part of the cross-poster.

If he does, he'll probably have enough clue to look on the jobs list,
where this thread should have been contained. And, if he is truly
clueful, he probably wouldn't want to work for an outfit that is too
lazy, and/or rude, and/or stupid to advertise their jobs in the correct
place. Would YOU want a technical job with a company whose recruiters
can't follow simple directions and have no common courtesy? "Now hiring
system admins! Want fries with that, dood?"

gotta agree with Jay on this one. Not folowing instructions, and not reading
someone's CV before an interview ranks the same in my book.
Clark, on the other hand your welcome to post the jobs in the jobs mailing
list, cisco god, im sure you have an attitude problem. a cisco god wouldnt
even use such a nick, it's called humility, and they would also post with
their CCIE number right next to their name. Until the day you manage to
provide those 4 numbers with your name, LEARN SOME HUMILITY.

can i get the fries with that dood?

RE: DELL

2000-05-26 Thread Cisco God

I don't assume anything about the job that is not stated in the
recruiter's email. His email mentioned NT, Unix, and Novell. And despite the
fact the he thinks job titles are hacked and cobbled together, unless his
job descriptions are hacked and cobbled too, I would hope they have mention
of Cisco somewhere. I realize you might not be Cisco-centric and that you
would like to see all types of jobs, perhaps it would be best for you to
browse over to monster.com or headhunter.net. This happens to be a
Cisco-centric mailing list and we should at least make an attempt to keep it
like that. It's not my fault if you don't think there are enough Cisco jobs
getting posted on here, but that does not make it okay to start posting
whatever we want.
As far as me defaming and stifling, I'm not the one that makes
assumptions about "real" email addresses. What does my hotmail account have
anything to do with the conversation. What is ea.com? And I'm also not the
one calling people "stupid" and "idiotic". Leave the kiddy name calling at
home and perhaps you won't have to be looking so hard for a job.

The Dell switch product line is the spawn of the underworld. Using Dell
switches will cause your teeth to fall out and hair to grow on your palms.
Dell switches will make your food taste like dust and your water taste like
vinegar. Don't even ask what happens to your packets as they cross a Dell
backplane.

Well, what else would you expect from us Cisco jocks? :->

This is not intended to offend anyone: Just thought professionals could be
just that and wanted an objective answer if you had used a Dell managed
switch. Thank you.

this is not intended to offend anyone, but sometimes people on newsgroups
make feeble attempts at humor. just thought adults could be just that, and
might laugh if they thought it funny, and ignore it if they thought
otherwise.

I have to concur with my colleague Mr. Brunner’s 8/8 post and add this:
If Cisco would lower their Cost they wouldn’t be shooting themselves
in the foot. Yeah, Yeah I know Cisco quality and support… Ok they
are still the king of the hill and FOR THE MOST PART you get what you pay
for; however, ponder this – we recently deployed 2 VPN 3002 hardware
clients and they had MADE IN MEXICO stamped on them… WTF???

re: Dell switches [7:51160]

2002-08-10 Thread Zeke Gibson

Hi all,

I've worked with several of the Dell PowerConnect switches, a few of my
customers chose to purchase them because of the attractive price, after
all it is an access switch (the 2124's) I don't have much to say other
than that I havn't run into any issues, they have a slick web interface
(which doesn't excite me but the IT manager-types seem to like the
swizzy pointy clicky foo) and they perform well, but of course it's
no Cisco. In all fairness I'd have to say that they are excellent for what
they are, cheap access switches. I work with Cisco, Extreme, and Foundry
switches on a daily basis so all I really care about is my distro / core
layers and I'm not aware of anything comparable to the Dell at that price
point (except mebbe netgear, and they aren't fully manageable to my
knowledge)
One of these days I will crack the cover and see what's under the hood,
and put some in-house switch slamming tools to task and see how it
compares to a cat. 2924XL, but again, it's a cheap access switch so I
personally refrain from knocking on them too hard. Enjoy the weekend all

on a completely different tangent - if anyone out there has worked with
the Cricket stats package you might appreciate the cool foo my co-worker
came up with at http://stats.sonic.net/cricket

(this time I'm really off to lunch)
