Jeff, You must establish an ethernet connection using the E0 interface. Just throw an ip address from the same segment as your tftp server, and you should be good to go! :-) --- Jeff Dutton wrote: Once again please forgive my ignorance but I seem to have a problem copying flash to a tftp server via a console connection but have been able to do it in the past with an existing connection via a telnet session. Yes you can copy both ways on most router, but need more INPUT to help. RE: copying flash to a tftp server [7:36866]
I assume that you are saying that you tried to transfer an image from Flash over the console cable to a TFTP server. You are correct, this isn't possible. The console interface is a serial interface that knows nothing of IP or Ethernet, etc. TFTP being an IP based protocol requires an interface that can have a layer 3 address bound to it. The console is not such an interface. We ran into a situation recently where we purchased some 3620's and the IOS that came loaded on them couldn't recognize the NM's (or interfaces) we put in them, thus not only did we not have any visible interfaces, but we couldn't tftp a newer image to the router. The solution was to use the dreaded X or Y-modem file transfer protocols over the Aux port. It worked beautifully but boy was it slow! -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, February 28, 2002 4:56 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: copying flash to a tftp server [7:36866] Once again please forgive my ignorance but I seem to have a problem copying flash to a tftp server via a console connection but have been able to do it in the past with an existing connection via a telnet session.
