Re: Totally OT : Was there a man on the moon ? [7:33465]

2002-02-04 Thread Scott

I can't resist adding my .02.

There are people who seriously believe that man has never been in space.
There are also people who seriously believe that the earth is flat and that
we can fall off the edge. There are also some morons who think that the
Holocaust never happened. Remember the saying "You can fool all of the
people
some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but not all the people
all the time." The 2nd phrase is speaking to these people.

Mildly amusing story that came to mind: I used to work in a tool and die
shop. We had a sweeper who was a nice guy, but had a few burnt out light
bulbs. We got him talking about gun control one time. I was taking the side
of pro gun control and a friend across the shop was anti-gun control. My
friend would convince him that gun control was a bad thing. Then the sweeper
would come to me, we would chat for awhile and I would convince him my side
was better. The sweeper returned to my friend to chat with him and repeat
the
process. After about 4 hours, the sweeper figured out what we were doing
when
we switched sides.

Don't be the sweeper Phil. You have better things to do with your time.

Wait till moon tourist season begins in a decade or so, then look at the
plaque, flag and tire tracks/foot prints left by our previous visit.

Til then, build a powerful telescope/camera to look at above items. :)

Your friends must have seen that special documentary that aired on TLC or
Discovery channel. It was pretty good and had me convinced too until I
realized I would have to be a fool to let one documentary make me question
our government. That would be a huge conspiracy and huge cover up that would
definitely be exposed in the future. May be 30-75 years in the future since
they landed but neverless it would ruin our governments credibility in all
historical claims we have made in the past if a cover up had been exposed.

Is the moon really there, or is it an optical illusion created by former

Am I really here, or am I a lonely router misconfigured with an A.I. image?

Re: Totally OT : Was there a man on the moon ? [7:33465]

2002-01-28 Thread Steven A. Ridder

Tell your friends it called faith. It's a belief in something without being
able to prove or disprove it. And if they don't believe it, then that's
their prerogative. (Although, with the correct amount of cash, you can get
there and see for yourself, unlike proving the existence of a greater
being/deity). Ole Drews Jensen is right, why do they even believe the moon
exists. Or that the earth is round or that we revolve around the sun and
not vice-versa.

The best bet in getting a telescope to see the stuff on the moon is to get a
satellite to orbit the moon, like the ones we have in orbit in earth that
can take 1 m pictures. It's do-able and reasonably cheap in term of space
exploration.

RE: Totally OT : Was there a man on the moon ? [7:33465]

2002-01-28 Thread Ole Drews Jensen

How about this one:

My theory is that there is no gravity. Everything is growing with the same
speed. You can't see it or meassure it, because everything, even your ruler,
is growing with the same speed. The light speed is also growing, so the
speed of light is actually getting faster, but you don't know it.

When you drop a ball and it hits the floor and bounces back up, it's
actually keeping its position, but the earth and everything on it and around
it are growing, so the floor is actually hitting the ball and not the other
way around.

Prove me wrong :-)

2002-01-28 Thread David L. Blair

Well, I am old enough, forty next month, to remember the "Live" broadcast
from the moon or least alleged "Live" broadcast.

When I was in first grade my school turned on the TV during lunch and we
were allowed to watch the Moon broadcast. This is very flimsy evidence, but
I have to this date seen a broadcast of that quality, effects, or nature
since.

This concept was made into a movie "Capricorn Down" starring James Brolin.

2002-01-28 Thread nettable_walker

The theory has been around for a while that men did not really go to the
moon.

The sad thing is the taxpayers sure got stuck with a huge bill for nothing !
(even if men did go to the moon the bill was still for nothing).
What became of all the overpriced equipment that was used to fake us in to
believing men went to the moon?
Dumped in the ocean ?

$500 million per space shuttle mission.
I wish they would just lye about that & bill us $250 million six times a
year. That would save us 1.5 billion $ per year.

Keep working !!! Your government is spending your $$$ much faster than you
earn it.
