Theres also "fair dealing" but that looks so hideously un-specified that I wouldnt like to go up against big lawyers with my interpretation. *This applies in the UK only, and obviously only if it is private study and not something your company wants* Theres links to similar organisations in other countries though. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] Lauren Child, BSc. RE: Trade CATM 2.0 for CVOICE 2.0
I have taken the course, but I would also recommend taking the course. I would not recommend copying or trading the material at all. We are professional individuals. I assume you all are some-what smart or more. But I find that us "techies" lack the full common sense of non-techies. We are successful, or are going to be succesful. So I would be very careful it what you do. The course is excellent. I myself, found it hard but very informative. The book is also on sale now. Hope we are talking about the same thing here. Any comments welcome-lets all be careful with our information. Roy PS-Maybe someone with a relative, or friend that is a lawyer could give us all some guidance on this issue. I myself would love to give out information if it is found to be legal. -Original Message- From: Brian [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, November 21, 2000 3:16 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Trade CATM 2.0 for CVOICE 2.0 I have the official Cisco ATM 2.0 courseware. I would like to find someone who has the CVOICE 2.0 courseware, that would like to swap. I have the original, this is not a copy. Hopefully their is someone out there who has done the Voice and would like to do the ATM that I can trade with. Over here you are able to copy up to a third of a book or one chapter for research/educational purposes. The CLA (Copyright Licensing Agency) publishes a leaflet that goes into the legal usage. When I was at Uni. we used this when there were shortages of text books. Get into groups of three and photocopy a third each. The lecturers actually relied on it - we were given photocopied chapters of books to study from when we only needed a single chapter in a book. Also we got photocopied magazine articles through this. There were however big formal legal documents from the CLA hanging on all the photocopiers in the library, I know it cant be used for commercial purposes, and Im not sure whether the institution has to register with the CLA, but there you go - it might be worth people on the list joining a local college or something, especially if you form a local group of three and swap the thirds around. Check the CLA documents though - Im not at uni any more (graduated on friday :) so it might be different and Im not sure whether courseware like this would be eligible. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] Lauren Child, BSc. Re: Trade CATM 2.0 for CVOICE 2.0
IIRC, in my BSCN course book, within the first few pages, there was "license" text indicating that I could not resell or transfer the books. How that would hold up in court, who knows. ---JRE--- "Brian" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... > On Tue, 21 Nov 2000, Marc_Andre Giroux wrote: > > > I would recommend you go out and take the course Theft is never a good > > alternative... > > What are you talking about? I didn't realize that the courseware from Cisco was not tradeable, sellable or could not be given away? Re: Trade CATM 2.0 for CVOICE 2.0
The courseware is a book correct? If so then you definately have the right to sell or trade it to whomever you please (fair use). Of course if it is software with a restrictive EULA then perhaps you don't have that right. Re: Trade CATM 2.0 for CVOICE 2.0
Why do you consider trading theft? The manual is the personal property of the person that took the class. If they wish to trade it to someone else that took another class who has personal property that they would like to trade, they may do so. If you have a book that you finish and give to your mom or a co-worker, do you consider that theft?
