I don't have the Yanmar engine model #I know it is a 3 cylinder...if 
you want the mechanic's contact infoI have it...he has the engine and 
tranni and he lives in New Ross which is close to Mahone Bay.

On the Tartan 37 with failed transmissionowner has now replaced 
with new Yanmar and transmission...apparently I did not get the 
correct info from the owner but I did talk to the mechanic todayit 
actually wasn't the transmission.   The mechanic says it was a 
coupling failure and he could not find a replacement part...Yanmar in 
the USA said it would take a longtime to get one manufacturedthe 
mechanic says he can machine one but how long would it last he could 
not guarantee. and again my misunderstandingthe current second 
owner put 200 hours on the engine/tranni...they now have 1,900 
hoursagain, my misunderstanding.


Nevertheless, the Yanmar 3 cylinder engine and tranni are for sale if 
anyone is interestedthe mechanic has them in his garage.  I did 
not discuss me broadcasting his contact info here on the C site but 
he did say if anyone wanted to discuss with him for me to provide them 
with his contact info in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Stus-List eFlares in Canada

Hello,

This is a question to Canadian list members...

Has anyone researched the use of electronic flares (e.g., Sirius C-1001) as a 
replacement for the pyrotechnic flares in Canada? So far, I found that they can 
be used, but that they do not _replace_ the need for the proper flares (6 or 12 
of them depending on the boat length).

I know that in 2014 there was a movement to influence the change in the 
Transport Canada rules, but I did not find anything that would indicate that 
the change took place.

Of course, USCG accepts the eFlares as a replacement to pyrotechnic flares, but 
this does not make any difference here.

I had a look and my flares expired, so I need to buy something. It would be 
that much easier if I could buy an eFlare which has no expiration date.

If you know anything on that topic, please share.

Thanks but no interest.  Just know my mechanic used to have a rebuilt Kanzaki 
for a Yanmar 3GM in his warehouse so thought it might help if all was needed 
was a replacement tranny

I have to get to the air conditioning unit mounted behind the companionway
stairs on our 1994 C 37/40+.  The A/C unit is trapped in there with only
side access.  Has anyone had to disassemble those stairs to get at things,
