Hey Joel, I think the Thimble Islands on the CT coast are pretty neat. We
also loved going up to Essex on the CT river. The Griswold Inn there has a
fantastic sea shanty night. Northport is a nice little town. Oyster bay
has a couple nice anchorages. Ziegler's Cove is a pretty anchorage as well.
Hylas hm nice! Have a great time.

Rob, here is a link to some photos of my idler project. I stuck my phone
under the idler plate and took photos and video and thanked the gods that
it wasn't completely rusted through like a lot of others boats were. I
removed the pedestal and broke an aluminum bolt which sucked. Mcmaster to

I grinded the rusty areas of the idler plate and it seemed ok so I treated
it with POR system and replaced the chain and cable with Edson and
refinished the pedestal which I messed up but that's another story. It took
a while but it's nice to know it's all new. The cable stretches a lot over
the first year or so. All of these emails should be archived into a neat

A 37/40xl owner sent pics of both sides of the forward bulkhead tabbed to
the coachroof deck or whatever its called. Ours were not. Maybe the XL
really stepped it up or probably was a hungover Monday on the Lake that day
in 1990. As of 2023 in Powell Cay it is also now tabbed which hopefully
reduces movement and associated noise. Sail on.

In heavy seas we're getting some movement and squeaking of the forward
bulkhead against the deck. This happens on the starboard side where there
seems to be no tabbing visible looking from within the closet.. On the port
side there is tabbing. Are the other 37/40's built this way? I may go ahead
and ad fioberglass tabbing there before we make our crossing back to the
states.

I put a Lasdrop Gen on there. Not sure I'd recommend it though because the

Hey Chuck, I replaced the chain/cable on mine last year. They looked it up

clear. Of course one of the aluminum bolts that held the pedestal down
broke when taking the idler plate out. Mcmaster to the rescue. And some
major project creep. Luckily my plate wasn't too bad and I treated it with

I noticed last year when fixing the delamination area around where the

bolt threads into. It looks like an open area behind the hole in the plate.

they fixed everything. Yes it is expensive. Correct me if I'm wrong.

replacements from Edson. (also had a broken strand that hooked my meat) I
did remove the binnacle because I also wanted to change the throttle/ gear

sheaves for the wire rope with some anti rust love POR 3-step. I thank my
lucky stars mine was in much better shape than some other 37/40 owners'.
There's good videos on Edson's website showing how to do it. Just make sure
you cross the wire rope in side the binnacle! I didn't. Then I did. fun

Josh did you find out the proper thickness of the portlights? I bought a
sheet of 3/8” bronze 2412 I believe but haven’t had a chance to do it. Now
I'm concerned that it’s too thick.
Anyone know? I may cut a small one out today and find out.

have their experiences been with performance/vibration.
At least a few people have had issues with them.

Re: Stus-List Fwd: Transmission problem??

2020-08-25 Thread rockland bazemore via CnC-List
I've also been having a similar issue and assumed it was the maxprop not
opening all the way but I'm not 100% sure. The vibration happens sometimes
when decreasing throttle as well. I havent found a method that always works
for getting it back to running smoothly. I usually bring it back down to
idle or even a boost of throttle helps. I know my prop needs refurbishing
so I was thinking it was that and also some greasing.
I'm also getting some nasty sounds in forward idle. At 1k it sounds smooth.

I’m not sure the exact diameter of the lines but all seem to fill the

info somewhere that has the recommended size? Do the drums need knurling or

2020-06-24 Thread rockland bazemore via CnC-List
Hi does anyone have any info or are able to search the mailing list for
info regarding the 37/40 Blue Pearl? I searched using Blue Pearl :
cnc-list.com but this doesnt seem to find many results. The few results I
did find aren't stellar. Thanks for any info you can give me.
