2017-05-28 Thread Jake Brodersen via CnC-List
Jonathan,

I've removed all of my floor boards and never touched the pole in the
galley. The port side pole attached to the partial bulkhead and hooks into
the railing in the galley. I'll have to look closer next time.

Subject: Stus-List Replacing Teak and Holly Flooring

The teak and holly flooring on Indigo desperately needs replacing.

I have 1 question for 35mk3 owners and one for all listers!

1. Can the flooring be replaced without removing vertical grab bar by the
galley. Access to the upper end of this grab bar is under the companionway
hatch cover?

2. What alternatives to teak and holly would listers recommend. I am not
sure investment in the real stuff is warranted for a nearly 35 yr old boat.

Could one not screw the completed panels just like the original - with the
screws going through the Plasteak and countersunk to stop the heads being proud?

I used PlasTeak, bought it from Defender. Only draw back is it cannot be
removed like the old panels. I screwed down epoxied coated plywood then
applied the PlasTeak. If you go this route make sure you make access panels to
access the full length of the bilge.

Re: Stus-List Replacing Teak and Holly Flooring

2017-05-28 Thread Dennis C. via CnC-List
You might consider PlasTeak, Flexiteek, Nuteak or similar. If you think
you can do a linoleum floor, you can do the plastic teaks.

Here's a pic of a job I did on a deck hatch with PlasDek (the matte,
exterior version) on a Grand Banks trawler.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_sb5TfIENvsV2NVZ1hmaGJ6cEU

The install was pretty simple. Of course, gluing it down to a hatch is
different than having to negotiate all the shapes of an interior install.
Most of the vendors can work from a template or you can cut the shapes,
borders and trims yourself.

If I installed holly teak in Touche' there's no doubt I'd go with the
plastic variety.

Plastic teak is standard on many production boats now.

If you remove the 2 screws holding the lower end of the grab bar you can
get the floorboard out but it's not easy.
