Supposedly many 1980's C's (like my 1908 30-1) had a little yellow and a little brown added to the white. That's from listers years ago, I've not tried it. Re: Stus-List Gel coat
Not strictly related to exterior gelcoat (all mine has been painted), but I have been amazed at the colour variations of the gelcoat on the interior liners. Here are a few examples. One shows the area behind the portlight trim pieces in the salon, and the other shows beneath two different head labels that I just peeled off. The lower label was for a Raritan head, which I assume was original given the lighter gelcoat, and the upper was for a different brand (forget which), and now, there's a third label for the current Jabsco head on the lower teak cabinet (ugh... I'm afraid to remove that one!) https://photos.app.goo.gl/6L4bvNjLJE9WyBSR9 -- Shawn Wright shawngwri...@gmail.com S/V Callisto, 1974 C 35 https://www.facebook.com/SVCallisto On Tue, May 19, 2020 at 9:06 AM Jeremy Dinsel via CnC-List < cnc-list@cnc-list.com> wrote: > There’s a video on the YouTube channel “Boat Works Today” where Andy shows > how to match gel coat color using a matrix of colors blended together. Re: Stus-List gel coat colour
Hi, The gelcoat on my old 1979 29-1 was an identical match to oyster white gelcoat I purchased at Jamestown Distributors. I mixed MEKP with the gelcoat in small batches using a 10ml and a 1ml syringe(i.e. 10 ml of gelcoat to 0.1 ml of MEKP). This oyster white color is the same as the Awlgrip oyster white so you may be able to find an Awlgrip color card locally to check the match. Re: Stus-List gel coat colour
Generally, the CC deck color is smoke white which is a blend of brown, black and yellow. Best bet is to rent the Instint gelcoat colorbook from Fibreglast.com, match the color and order a quart. F155 is a close match for Touché's deck. I repair gelcoat quite often and find that using that colorbook works better than trying to tint it yourself. Dennis C.
