Stus-List Re: Cabin Ceiling Panels
I used white textured ABS (3mmthick) which I spray painted to match the cabin gelcoat. Available from lumber yards or Home Depot. One sheet is $70, but it can be cut and sanded and painted like wood, but no splinters, bends easier than plywood, never delaminates. Waterproof, never rots and is light, fire resistant too. Comes in 3/8", 1/2", 3/4" for more money. Builders use it for exterior trim, facia, etc. It's softer than Starboard and is light like pine. Great for overhead panels. One of the guys at my boatyard cut it into planks, routed the edges, and screwed the planks into the overhead of his Peterson 34, planks running fore and aft, to hide all the nuts and wiring. Really looks sharp. I made companionway doors from 1/2" and they work great. To Piggyback on Alan's Home Depot, I see they have some nice vinyl white Wainscot, you could probably attach it with a lot of self Adhesive velcro. My cabin ceiling is made up of something like that and it looks great overhead, and next to varnished wood. https://www.homedepot.com/p/HOUSE-OF-FARA-W96WP-12-sq-ft-White-Vinyl-Reversible-Interior-Exterior-Paneling-3-Piece-Per-Pack-W96WP/205437105 Bill Coleman On Mon, Mar 13, 2023 at 4:48 PM John McCrea via CnC-List < cnc-list@cnc-list.com> wrote: > Great idea, Thanks. > > > > *From:* ALAN BERGEN via CnC-List > *Sent:* Monday, March 13, 2023 4:27 PM > *To:* Stus-List > *Cc:* ALAN BERGEN > *Subject:* Stus-List Re: Cabin Ceiling Panels > > > > I replaced mine with fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) which you can get at > Home Depot. > > > > Alan > > > > > > On Mon, Mar 13, 2023 at 1:18 PM John McCrea via CnC-List < > cnc-list@cnc-list.com> wrote: > > Hello.
