Well, in a private mail (quoted also in this ML) you said me that people
that will buy a phone from you would get also the extra goodies (pouch
and headsets) generally shipped only to people ordering a 10-pack from USA.

Can you confirm this?

Since I think that is an important issue for many EU buyers (at least
the Italian ones I've talked to).

I agree with Michele asking you if there's a kind of discount (at least
on shipping) for a N-pack ordering (with N > 1 :)).

I think the question was, if trisoft customers will get their phone later than
pulster customers, because trisoft is not an OFFICIAL PARTNER ?

In this case I don't think preorders are unserious, because the vendors can
make a better calculation and for me as customer it's just more comfortable
as I don't have to check my mails every day and do not miss the release.

I know that preorders are not good for competition between pulster and
trisoft, but don' forget preorders are not binding.

well.. i think that was already answered somewhere in the thread in
other words, but here my short version:

afaik there will be 2 possibilities:

- order at the openmoko us based webshop.
 - pay in us$
 - pay the (to europe quite high but not unusual) higher shipping fee
 - if not in the us: pay the VAT/sales tax of the target country on
recieving the package to the ups guy (usually in cash)
 - use a CC (currently JCB, VISA, MASTER. _no_ AMEX afaik)

- order at a local distributor
 - pay the local currency
 - pay for shipping if you do not pick it up yourself
 - pay the regional tax/vat of your county directly with the
device and
shipping

so the bottomline is: us customers as well as worldwide can very
easily
order directly at openmoko. but if you do not want to have the
hassle of
transatlantic shipping, different currencies etc or want local
warranty, buy at a local distributor.

i guess due to the shipping costs its cheaper and less hassle to
order
single devices directly at a distributor. also these could have
different payment methods, but thats their decision.

kind regards

On pulster the price is in the description, the price in the list is
0.00 Euro, should not means that they will sell it at 299 Euro.
I don't trust this actually.

the Openmoko direct shop in the US always uses UPS for now.

the shop does use a ups provided api to calculate the shipping costs on
the fly from our shipping hub in freemont to the address you supplied
and displays them before you are input your CC data.
so you should always know the shipping costs up in front.

Hi Steve
I am helping to organize an Italian Sales Group - Torino.
I know is a bit too much early to ask this, but it will be usefull to
know which company will deliver FreeRunner ordered direct from USA by
OpenMoko shop.

Here we are frontier tax and it'd like to contact them to know how much
they will be and how we have to pay them.

I am preparing some spreadsheet to calculate how will be the per unit
cost, and until now the break point between local reseller and direct
buy is around 4-5 units.

Thank you

I think the shipping from the US to Europe (I think it was on the
order of $70-120) will make it much more expensive to
order single units from the US than from a European reseller. And you
would probably get a better guarantee from a European reseller.

Hey,

About distribution in Europe : Bearstech ( [French]
http://bearstech.com/openmoko/register ) is a french company that seem
to be wanting to distribute FreeRunner. But the page hasn't been updated
for a while...

Did they contact someone at Openmoko Inc ? Anybody heard of something ?

Thanks

I think the shipping from the US to Europe (I think it was on the order of
$70-120) will make it much more expensive to
order single units from the US than from a European reseller. And you would
probably get a better guarantee from a European reseller.

The phone is in production. The samples people are getting are production
samples.

The biggest hurdle now is getting the factory to let us open the floodgates.

It's annoying but also utterly normal.
