Okay, thanks for the clarification. I was just concerned about hearsay on the list. Re: Warning. Don't remove battery with usb power
Yeah, without knowing how the power system is done i dunno either. It could be the charging circuit going to max output to try and raise the battery volts above the min level, (which of course it can't). Whatever the cause, the scream is definitely coming from a coil or inductor vibrating due to the attraction/repulsion between its own magnetic field and the earth's. But which coil/inductor and what's causing it to go into this state i dunno. Ben. (something like that) Probably not a good thing for the components, but not a result of any stress to the power drivers. But maybe it results in stress for them... Don't know. Re: Warning. Don't remove battery with usb power
Hi Tim While it is possible I think it's quite unlikely. When switchmode power supplies die they normally destroy themselves. I would expect, if damage occurred due to usb powered battery removal, the phone would be dead rather than develop booting problems. Ben. Maybe substantially increase C1706 from 10u to say 470u switch type? Anyway i wondered whether U1703 shouldn't operate PWM-mode 5->3.6V stepdown converter - so there's some coil and a freeweel schottky-diode missing for this operation mode. Probably 50606 doesn't support it at all, so just a nice idea. Anyway i guess for 50633 (GTA02) this is completely different jOERG ___ OpenMoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
