No, it's not really important. If you like cvs more than git (I can
understand you), keep it as it is now.

That wouldn't matter with git, I guess would have been best if you got
your own git repository. That has been the standard policy on fdo so
far. Working in a branch in the default repository would be another
option.

It doesn't really matter much, this was just a suggestion. Use whatever
you like to use :-)

I'm not a big fan of git myself...and right now the cvs is hosted on my
own machine, and I like that that means I can configure things however
I need to, but if it becomes a very important thing, we can look into
moving to fdo.

The other thing is, I don't want to do anything to step on davidr's
toes. That would not be a good idea, for obvious reasons.

Solerman Kaplon replied to me directly but I think the reply was meant
of the list. Either way his analogy is a good one IMO.

I think a good analogy is that Quinn's version is like Andrew Morton
kernel tree. Lots of (experimental) things goes there, but it doesn't
mean they will go as is to the main kernel. Eg: they may need some
massaging, or need a rewrite, but gives a good place for ppl to test and
try these.

Err - Quinn is a girl? Didn't know, I appologize :-]

This just happens too seldom in open source development :-/

Quite possibly. Move to FDO has been voiced for some time, but not kept
up-to-date for a while with the Quinn's happenings (weather is too nice
just now!!)

Just an idea, of course this is all up to Quinn himself.

if yuo guide me on this I can relly help you, I have severall ideas but
I dont know how to integrate this ideas into compiz or xgl..pluggin?,
how?, documentation?, etc...

Well, I'm by no means a compiz developer. I'd like to be but just
haven't got the time due to other projects I am currently commited to.

If you want to work on compiz tho' and discuss your ideas for new
plugins etc. the best place is either this list or the forums over at

So if you've got new plugins etc. it is quite likely that they will be
adopted into the QUinn version.

Go along to the forums and introduce yourself and you'll soon get to
know who the big contributers over there are.

Anyone think this is bad advice? I hope not. David, do you think this is
the correct pointer for new people/do you approve etc.?
