I have had good luck. A recent Epson scanner that was purchased
runs beautifully and even an older Microtek runs under OS 10.5 after a
couple of manipulations were done to the original Microtek scanning
software that was written for 10.3 and is not supposed to work in any
Mac OS above that version.

Nicht Vahr?

When it comes to your proposal I got it pretty clear.

Socialism is not always a bad way to go, but it is easily corrupted
and co-opted, such as capitalism.

The problem with politicians is that they think they can keep
everyone or a specific group happy. Problem is that is not always
what is the reality in governing.

Governing means leading for the best for all people not just one
constituency. (Try being a pastor, same problem)

If a politician is doing his/her job appropriately someone is always
going to pissed at them. That is part of the landscape.

To make broadband truly accessible to all people you would have to
make it a regulated, legislated commodity.

The same thing is happening with health care right now.

I could easily put together a USB drive, especially a U3-type that presents
as a CD drive, with stuff for Mac OS, Windows, Linux, and others.

All you need is a curious but clueless user to mess up any of those
Operating Systems.

Plenty of stories out there about people "losing" a handful of USB drives,
and finding 80+% of them were inserted in people's computers and clicked on,
compromising the computers.

People who wouldn't click on a dangerous web site are likely to think that
the USB they found or borrowed must have something interesting on it.

Just more user education, really.

Many of our high priced, and expensive pieces of machinery also use

You make Ronald Reagan proud, but that is wildly off the mark. It is
the job of regulators to do precisely that. But after the neocons
fired the meat inspectors, toy safety inspectors, drug analysts, etc.,
people started to die. Then the murderers claimed it was because
government doesn't work. That's a convenient way to hide from
responsibility. But the truth is that they killed them. Their blood is
on their hands.

While broadband is not as deadly a situation (though I can think of
situations where it would save lives) there is plenty of room for
standardization and there is a long history of the government
assisting in this. What would radio and TV be like today is each
network was using its own incompatible method of delivering its signal?

You appear to have signed up for the ignorance entitlement program.
The Feds, if anything, audit themselves too much.

[CGUYS] Apple App Store Gets Really Silly

AppleInsider | Swimwear seller hit by Apple's removal of 'sexual' apps

"It’s just women in bikinis" says the guy from the Simply Beach
catalog store.

What's next, mandatory burqas? But then these day, songs played on the
radio are full of gaps where a word or two has been deleted. These
left overs from the Bush administration continue to snowball.

Apparently, in various forums, blog posts and videos, one of the school's
techies talked about the technology they were using and how to set it up so
that the user would not realize they were being spied on. He also discussed
how to prevent a laptop using this software from being "jailbroken," so
users couldn't discover that their computers were being used in this manner.
Other forum posts from students at the school show that they were told they
could not use other computers, could not disable the cameras and could not
jailbreak their laptops on the risk of expulsion.
