NO !
Having the milestone in the name means you nead as many Obsolete lines
as milestones; as of today you must have a *.spec like:

Name: mozilla-M13
Obsoletes : mozilla-M1
Obsoletes : mozilla-M2
Obsoletes : mozilla-M3
Obsoletes : mozilla-M4
Obsoletes : mozilla-M5
Obsoletes : mozilla-M6
Obsoletes : mozilla-M7
Obsoletes : mozilla-M8
Obsoletes : mozilla-M9
Obsoletes : mozilla-M10
Obsoletes : mozilla-M11
Obsoletes : mozilla-M12

That is a real pain.
The milestone must go to the version or the release.

THe problem with it in the version is when 5.0 is out.
A possible solution will be to use a version number like 0.M13 and use 5.0
when it is really out.
Or pur the milestone in the release: 0.M13.1mdk

Never assume that peopel will update from the previous version; often people
updates after 4, 5 or more versions/releases have been out.

[Cooker] Mozilla and fonts

2000-02-24 Thread Brian J. Murrell

Anybody else getting shitty font rendering in Mozilla? I have tried the
M12 RPM on Contrib and the latest snapshots. It seems that any font
other than 12pt "unspecified" comes out this really ugly block font.

Just wondering if it's only my box or if it's others before I start
bothering the mozilla folks about it.

On the other hand is *anybody* getting decent looking fonts, in
differing faces and sizes?

Just a suggestion, but if possible it might be helpful to include at

dots are ok. but watch where you put them or the numbering gets all
fubar. The milestone should be a piece of the %{version} IMO, because
thats what it is isn't it, but you'd still need to workout a numbering
scheme.
And probably the best thing todo is continue the
'Obsoletes: mozilla-Mxy' untill it is released and then
'Obsolete: mozilla-M9'

But when real 5.0 will be out; would 5.0-1mdk be bigger than 5.0-M25-1mdk
(or whatever like that) ? Also, no '-' can be used on the version or release
string, I think.

Maybe here is a case for decimal releases: Version: 5.0 Release: 0.M13.1mdk ?

Then 5.0-1mdk final will be greater than the latest milestone which would
be of the form 5.0-0.M25.1mdk

Actually I think technically, under the new US export regs, it is
exportable. I belive the Mozilla crew are already going ahead and
putting crypto back into Mozilla under the new regs.

Besides which, why not have it built it outside the US and bring the
exportable parts (all but the freeswan package/ipsec.o module) back in
for distro on the Mandrake mirrors? Those procedures must already be
getting done with the crypto site offshore anyway right?

Or have switches in the spec file to build the "freeswan" package
(including kernel module ipsec.o) or not. The in US builder -- you can
turn the switch off to not make a freeswan package, and somebody
offshore in charge of doing the crypto can build with freeswan and only
post the resulting freeswan package on the crypto site.

In any case, it would be nice to have it in the spec file, even if one
did have to go retrieve the package from freeswan.org and put it into
SOURCES himself, just so making it build is easier. Better than having
to patch the spec file every time a new kernel comes out methinks.

Freeswan didn't make it in this time huh? Will it ever? 1.3 was
released not very long ago.

[Cooker] mozilla

2000-02-24 Thread Adrian Reber

The current version of mozilla in contrib is:

Name: mozilla-M12
Version : 5.0
Release : 1mdk

I think it would be better to name mozilla this way:

Name: mozilla-browser
Version : 5.0
Release : M13-1mdk

Because the M13 is the release number and not part of the package name!
