[Cooker] RPM Help
Do I need to be root in order to make packages using RPM? I've been trying to using my normal user account, and if I can do it this way, I can't figure out how. Any info would be appreciated. You need to use the "-h" flag to halt. From the man pages: shutdown does its job by signalling the init process, asking it to change the runlevel. Runlevel 0 is used to halt the sys tem, runlevel 6 is used to reboot the system, and runlevel 1 is used to put to system into a state where administra tive tasks can be performed; this is the default if nei ther the -h or -r flag is given to shutdown. Type "man shutdown" to get useful info like this about "shutdown"; it also works for most other commands. Cool, eh? just didn't seem right, thought i had it working before with "shutdown now". no biggy. i got it working :)

I just reinstalled and I forgot what settings your supposed to use in fstab, when using supermount and two cdrom drives running under SCSI emulation. Can anyone help me out? Thanks a lot. "Quel Qun" [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: I was running urpmi.update without specifying any media name. Since it was telling me the dep files were created and I wasn't receiving any error message, I thought it was supposed to work like this. Maybe it should by defaut scan the urpmi.cfg... yep, maybe, for urpmi.update "-a" should be the default option... hope nobody will complain about this behaviour change though! [...] So I removed /var/lib/urpmi and regenerated the files. Is it normal that there is no depslist.html anymore? Not that I use or need it, but the man page (that I should have read more carefully) mentions it. yep, no more depslist.html as nobody i know uses it. thanks, cu Pixel.

Something obviously wasn't setup right, I'll give it another try. [Cooker] Apache - JServ Problems
Hello all. I currently have problems with the Apache Server with the JServ added to it. It seems that it does not like each other due to the fact that the JServ do not work with the Apache as it is. Have anyone have any success on making the JServ work with the Apache at this time, with any documentations on this? - This mail sent through IMP: http://web.horde.org/imp/
[Cooker] XFree86 4.0 -my results
Well, i installed the glibc binaries. just answered yes to everthing and edited the inittab to "5" and restarted and it works nicely. 1) Creative Labs Geforce isn't listed (not new news tho') so i used the C/L TNT2 driver. 2) Timings aren't correct. (i.e. screen is oversized, etc) Only 800x600 seems reasonabley correct. 3) DrakConf Monitor config doesn't work. Errors on trying to find a font. (Overwritten by Xfree86 4.0) 4) Has the small fonts defaulted. I usually uninstall 75 dpi and revert to 100dpi fonts here on this 19" monitor. Much easier to read. 5) Lost the ability to use 32 bit. So am now in 24 bit color. bummer, i'm going to try switching to another driver, like the generic tnt2 A little spiffier. still seeing allot of memory being used, with a difference of 25mb -could be just because of the bpp tho'(24bit XFree86 v4=100mb, 32bit XFree86 v3=128). Well, have seen a nice increase in loading netscape! Actually, netscape is now functional after this update! If i can iron out the above, will do this to my main linux o/s. Right now in a test o/s of mdk. Need the 100dpi fonts and 32 bit color. I'll also compare the font listing to my old font server to check the order of fonts.

Ah, I understand. Please excuse my bad English :) On Thu, 16 Mar 2000, you wrote: On Wed, 15 Mar 2000, OS wrote: Were you cut short. Please tell me and put me out of my misery :) I don't believe he was using the horribly bad English some people use by saying "try and tell you" when they mean "try to tell you", but rather he actually meant "and" as if he was doing two things, first he would try it, and then (after having done so) he would tell you about it. Give him a chance to try it first. Then he'll put you out of your misery. :)
[Cooker] ipchains and masqueraing (I know someone brought this up b4)
I am running Mandrake 7.0 but with the "stock" 2.2.15-0.9 kernel (This does not seem to matter as I have have this "problem" since loading 7.0). I get messages saying: "IP_MASQ: reverse ICMP: failed checksum from a.b.c.d". This is annoying is there a way to turn these messages off or something? This message never showed up in 6.1 thanks in advance, jim drash [EMAIL PROTECTED]
