[Cooker] Air ISO boot problems.
To anyone interested, I have recently discovered the answer to a problem I have seen on this list wuite a bit. People have been having problems with the Mandrake 7.0 ISO not booting properly, and through experimentation I have discovered a possible answer. I assembled a collection of various computers and tried to install from an ISO that a friend had downloaded and burned that didn't work for him. Consistently, the CR-ROM install failed during the reading of the CD-ROM boot image (i.e. after the splash screen, and the kernel demsg). I then took a CD that I had and installed. It consistently worked on all 7 machines. I looked for a common denominator, and I found that my friend had burned his ISO from a windows machine, and I had burned mine under Linux (cdrecord). I then realized that this may be the problem. I brought in a few more friends with varying hardware and OSs, and every CD burned from windows (no metter where the ISO was d/l'd from) froze at the same point, every linux burned CD worked without a hitch. Please verify and post any further information. Deven Phillips, Cytronix Computer Services, Inc.

Re: [Cooker] Printer configuration program is broken
Gael, Now it has the TCL/TK printtool, but before it was the PrinterDrake proggy. I installed the printtool from Mandrake 6.1 with a --force --nodeps. I am not currently at my machine, so I cannot load the rpm to see. Deven
Re: [Cooker] Printer configuration program is broken
Gael, That package from the Mandrake 7.0 distro actually installs the PrinterDrake tool, and not the RH printtool (The TCL/TK one). This is the way I noticed it at least. [Cooker] Printer configuration program is broken
Hi, I have been tracking the Mandrake Air betas, and I noticed recently that you removed the RH Printtool program. The Mandrake PrinterDrake does not work for configuring my HP DeskJet 882C (Using the DeskJet 500/600C filter). It has always worked using the RH printtool, so why doesn't printerdrake do it right??? I had to install the printtool RPM from my MDK6.1 CD. This actually worked. You should look into this problem. I am available for questions or remote access to my box. If you like, I can even open up for remote X sessions. Please contact me for further information. Deven Phillips, Cytronix Computer Services, Inc.

[Cooker] Problems with Trident Cyber 9525DVD video card
Hello all, I have a Toshiba Satellite 2595CDT that I have been using Mandrake on since 5.1. I have had the video driver supported since XF86 3.3.3. When I use the Mandrake install, it detects the card properly and I configure the resolution and monitor. The problem arises that when I test the X configuration or try to start X after the install, all that I get is a black screen with various blue bars running vertically across the screen. I can manually configure the card using xf86config or XF86Setup, but the install doesn't get it right. I hope that it will work, and any information you may want I can provide. [Cooker] PC Card Services/Oxygen/Toshiba 2595CDT
To all PC Card Services hackers: I have communicating with Pixel for several days now, and as yet; card services don't work by default on my Toshiba 2595CDT. When I create a bootable CDROM using the pcmcia.img, the install hangs when searching for the CDROM. When I create a bootable CDROM using the cdrom.img, the install does not successfully configure PC Card services. Here is more information: When I compile and install my own PC Card Services (Version 3.1.7) it works fine. When I try to configure the included PC card services, I get one high beep and one low beep (indicating to my best guess that it cannot configure correctly). When it works properly (with my own configuration) I get two high beeps when a card is inserted. Re: [Cooker] First report from a upgrade Mandrake 6.1 -> Mandrake 7.0
Mandrake Team, I must concur, the upgrade does take a long time (I assume this due to the seeking of the packages in the current configuration), but afterward everything is roses. This is the best Linux installation/distribution I have ever seen. I have seen lots of GUI installs and pretty distros, but usually they are crippled in some way (e.g. EasyLinux doesn't have a C/C++ compiler or Apache). I have been and now have more reason to be, a serious Mandrake proponent. I recommend it to all of my clients, and I haven't had a complaint yet. Deven Phillips, Cytronix Computer Services, Inc.
