[Cooker] ht://Dig 3.1.5 in cooker ?

2000-08-03 Thread NEPOTE Charles (Neuilly Gestion)

As KDE 2 propose to
use the search engine ht://Dig for the search of his documentation, should
ht://Dig get in cooker now ?
If so, I suggest
also you add the accent patch to manage fuzzy searching on accented
caracters (everyday users of ht://Dig know how important it
is).

Linux-Mandrake also
should have a better integration of ht://Dig (links with dictionnaries, better
integration with Apache, and so on (I can discribe precisaly if you intend to do
it)).
Last ht://Dig
Mandrake RPM package also have some problem to work : I suggest to see the
problem of the sorting process when we use accented caracters. I discribe it and
publish a solution in the htdig mailing list. Just search for the word
"Mandrake" in the www.htdig.org page... or if
you like I can discribe it here.

Of course, in next
Mandrake release, ht://Dig even should be automatically installed if KDE 2
package is chosen in the install process.

Charles
Népote.

Same problem for me, I can't get into X at all : how to fix it ?
Need to reinstall a rpm ?

Is it OK to provide it now in cooker or in contribs ?
In particular :
"Windows 2000 Issues

This version of Samba has been tested with Windows 2000 and
the five known incompatibilities with Windows 2000 have been
fixed. See the "Changes in 2.0.7"

I experimented this problem on our network : it's impossible to access Windows 2000 shares.

When RPM update will be done, I will report any bug on this fix.

Many thanks,

Title: [discuss] Include WebDAV in Apache RPM ; WebDAV support in Mandrake.

1. Why not include WebDAV Apache module by default ?

-- see www.webdav.org
From their site :
"What is WebDAV?
Briefly: WebDAV stands for "Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning". It is a set of extensions to the HTTP protocol which allows users to collaboratively edit and manage files on remote web servers".

WebDAV is a standard by IETF.

2. [Dream] Can you add more DAV support in Mandrake ?
Explorers, html editors, etc.

I can't answer you, but why not testing with MandrakeSoft organization?
If MandrakeSoft intend to work with big firms, shouldn't it better have a LDAP solution?

[Cooker] [discuss] Add a quick-expert install mode

Title: [discuss] Add a quick-expert install mode

[Dream]
With the "quick-expert mode" it should be possible to select manually in a single screen, without automatic detections, *all* the options at the very beginning of install (language, hardware, networks options, and so on). Then the rest of the install would be without human intervention until the end.

(May be there will have problems with hard drive partition... we must think carefully about it).

Navigating in documentation is sometimes quite long (man pages, howtows, and do on).

Why not adding a unique search tool for all the documentation ? (with easy access)

It should be done with ht://Dig or glimpse or sgrep.

I saw ht://Dig 3.1.5 in Mandrake's "contribs".
Why not add it in the distro ?
And why not add the accent patch needed to index other languages than english (very stable) ?
The product is very stable and GPL ; the developpment team is very active.

IT WORKS GREAT !
Thanks a lot !!

So I had it to my rundig script.
I put "export LC_ALL=C" before htmerge and "export LC_ALL=fr_FR" after htmerge.

All right. So now, it's no use to discuss furthermore about sort &#@ù!#$ and so on.
Unfortunatly Pablo and Gilles have not seen all the messages separatly posted in the mailing lists [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] : I hope there won't be confusion about the goal of all that ; the problem is now solved and future version of htdig should avoid such problems.

To all, much thanks again.

sort -k1 db.wordlist
doesn't do it on my machine (same result as the first one).

I tried also :
sort -k 1 db.wordlist
sort -b -k1 ...
sort -b -k 1 ...
no more results...

[Cooker] SORT and locale

2000-05-17 Thread NEPOTE Charles (Neuilly Gestion)
Title: SORT and locale

Hi,

With Mandrake 7.0 or a cooker installed in french.

when I :

"sort db.wordlist"

which contains :

essai i:1
tué i:1
test i:1
tue i:1
test i:2
tué i:2
essai i:2
tue i:2

I obtain :

essai i:1
essai i:2
test i:1
test i:2
tue i:1
tué i:1
tue i:2
tué i:2

Shouldn't it be :

essai i:1
essai i:2
test i:1
test i:2
tue i:1
tue i:2
tué i:1
tué i:2

Because an accent in french *make sense* : "tué" is very different from "tue".
This result make ht://Dig working bad with some documents...
I tried to put :

LANG=en
LOCALE=en
LC_ALL=en
export LANG LOCALE LC_ALL

in ~/.bashrc and ~/.bash_profile and /etc/profile
But the same result remain.

So ???

Hi,

In Midnight Commander (Mandrake 7.0) when I press "home" key or "end" key, the highlighted bar goes at the top or at the end.

It doesn't work in Mandrake 7.1 b (fully upgraded yesterday by an "rpm -F *") : it give "1~" or "4~" on the command line.

Is it a bug ?

Title: Update utility : where to show the adress of a proxy server ?

Bonjour,

I couldn't use Mandrake Update in 6.1 because I don't know where to enter the adress of my compagny's proxy server.
So, it always give me an error : [in french] "Erreur lors de la récupération de la liste des mirroirs. Essayez plus tard".

May the Network Configuration stage, in Mandrake Install, ask for an optional proxy to resolve this problem ?
Or maybe it should be integrated in DrakConf.
