[Cooker] wrong MD5SUM file in Mandrake/base area!!

2003-08-29 Thread parag shah
Have done ftp install of 9.2RC1 and found many issues
which i will cover in subsequent mails. The most glaring oversight seems
in making RC1 is that

1) The MD5SUM file in the Mandrake/base area from
where urpmi gets all the media and package dependencies information has
all the wrong entries. This means after install if you try and use urpmi
to get anything more installed it doesnt work! A quick look at time
stamps on files shows indeed the MD5SUM files is older then the files it
has checksum stored for!

here is the file as found in /Mandrake/base area of the CD1 of 9.2RC1

$cat MD5SUM
9402d36bbbaaab7492b00633ddd14cef hdlist.cz

939469d91db42bba01252ebb2655fa51 synthesis.hdlist3.src.cz

and here is the actual checksum i find on the files

be674ddd1c069bf0d4dd68084e09ebfa hdlist1.cz ( NOTEi: its called hdlist1)
6513009c7f231bed11d59b0c3d4c2dec hdlist2.cz

a72b84a95d49ef8edf7347b2efcd1f06 synthesis.hdlist3.cz

2) the cd has first hdlist named as hdlist1.cz unlike for 9.1 release
which used to be called plain hdlist.cz and the said MD5SUM files lists
it as hdlist.cz but the base area has hdlist1.cz and not hdlist.cz.

cat /mnt/cdrom/VERSION

I have confirmed my ISO files have a proper checksums.

Checking the mirror you can see somehow all the packages from 13th Aug
onwards are missing from the tree and that explains massive del of files
you noticed. I personaly feel some glitch or error while makeing beta3
snapshot as i also see all the kernels missing as well :((

[Cooker] radeonfb initialisation through drakboot?

2003-08-18 Thread parag shah
I have tried all i can to get lilo to boot radeonfb into 1024x768 on
latest cooker kernel and cant seem to manage that at all :( I am
wondering if its possible to provide a choice of making device specific
framebuffer installed at lilo install time during the 9.2 install?
Also if anyone in the group has managed to make radeonfb work i would
dearly love to get some pointers.

I allready have radeonfb built into initrd with --with as well as
--preload options which does load radeonfb but not in 1024x768 :( and i
have tried both video=radeon:[EMAIL PROTECTED] as well as
video=radeonfb:[EMAIL PROTECTED] as append to my lilo entry and nothing has
worked i have no idea what i am doing wrong?

Just chekced with your updated rpms and everything works for me now :)
thanks!! Ofcourse i dont have a DVD writer so cant test the dvd part but
least now my xcdroast functions properly.

versions used:
xcdroast-0.98-28.alpha14mdk
cdrecord-devel-2.01-0.a18.1mdk
cdrecord-2.01-0.a18.1mdk
cdrecord-cdda2wav-2.01-0.a18.1mdk
mkisofs-2.01-0.a18.1mdk
dvd+rw-tools-5.9.4.4.4-1mdk

If anyone with a DVD-RW hardware wants to check them then i can post
this build RPM on cooker on my ftpserver or wait for warly to build
them.

I had same fatal glibc update that coredumped my machine left and right.
I managed to recover by downloading glibc-2.3.2-5mdk from a cooker
mirror ( It is also on the Beta1 cd of 9.2). I then used mc to extract
files from the glibc rpm and copied them on to my defunct machine booted
into rescue mode. once i manged to boot in i then had to set rpm
database right by force installing the same glibc-2.3.2-5mdk and its
devel package. Now things are back to where it was befor that fatal
glibc update.

Hope this helps to anyone who got burnt cause of glibc update today.

[Cooker] bug with mozilla

2002-12-05 Thread parag shah
latest cooked mozilla shuting down when loading http://www.macromedia.com.
Also http://go.icq.com java based icq loads but can not type into login
window. Both of this work just fine when i try with mozilla release
from mozilla.org i.e, mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu-1.2.1-sea.tar.gz using
identical plugins. Since mandrake package is using same version i
suppose bug has to be somewhere in Xft support that mandrake version has
and binary install from mozilla.org doesnt.

Installed on latest cooker:
mozilla-1.2.1-1mdk ( Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2.1)
Gecko/20021130) with sun java j2re1.4.1_01 plugin
installed and also macromedia flash beta plugin version
libflashplayer.so Shockwave Flash 6.0 r61 installed.

2002-11-08 Thread parag shah
hello after catching up with cooker on yesterday ( 7th Nov.) licq when
put in away mode pops up the away message dialog box and stops responding
with cpu usage at 99% and does not resplod to any click on close or cancel
buttons only way out is to close down licq. this only started since
yesterday. downloaded and built licq from daily cvs-snapshot and same
behaviour so looks like some library file got updated which licq didnt

Tried both new kernels that is kernel-2.4.19.17mdk and
kernel-2.4.19.18mdk-1-1mdk and system just reboots iteself as soon as
lilo loads. with command line option of pci=noacpi lets the linux load
but it crawls! slower then a very old 286! kernel
rnel-2.4.19.16mdk-1-1mdk works just fine as did all the versions befor
it. Here is the lspcidrake output.
