[Cooker] wrong MD5SUM file in Mandrake/base area!!
Have done ftp install of 9.2RC1 and found many issues which i will cover in subsequent mails. The most glaring oversight seems in making RC1 is that 1) The MD5SUM file in the Mandrake/base area from where urpmi gets all the media and package dependencies information has all the wrong entries. This means after install if you try and use urpmi to get anything more installed it doesnt work! A quick look at time stamps on files shows indeed the MD5SUM files is older then the files it has checksum stored for! here is the file as found in /Mandrake/base area of the CD1 of 9.2RC1 $cat MD5SUM 9402d36bbbaaab7492b00633ddd14cef hdlist.cz fe389a8348141b4ff433184ea703f5e0 hdlist.src.cz 37c8080529ad4e2b578374568a809c6e hdlist2.cz 31e8931f00c0e5a29babf7aef79ead03 hdlist2.src.cz 25d092d1271562f7970ff861239f760b hdlist3.cz 69a9a0e692905fbc7ab8af5149c3b54c hdlist3.src.cz 89d1cfab483d17e1a75dbcc5a2797763 hdlists dedd8686b47feb304c4888a244d6fa17 synthesis.hdlist.cz ceb590b3702afadc7d00acb3c0a5e68a synthesis.hdlist.src.cz c1826ed867797218810545850f8c0287 synthesis.hdlist2.cz 3d81d2e22ce134279fb9188130a305a6 synthesis.hdlist2.src.cz 6e75271d76fd81790a62601551195ea6 synthesis.hdlist3.cz 939469d91db42bba01252ebb2655fa51 synthesis.hdlist3.src.cz and here is the actual checksum i find on the files be674ddd1c069bf0d4dd68084e09ebfa hdlist1.cz ( NOTEi: its called hdlist1) 6513009c7f231bed11d59b0c3d4c2dec hdlist2.cz d177a44bf415a4fbe1707b184ccd4068 hdlist3.cz 40bc05abe4bae0441da446bd5f93056d hdlists 07dfad8c6e0e5944a1b9f2f981813fde synthesis.hdlist1.cz 2babc4ae7a22b849d0388ea7252d80ba synthesis.hdlist2.cz a72b84a95d49ef8edf7347b2efcd1f06 synthesis.hdlist3.cz 2) the cd has first hdlist named as hdlist1.cz unlike for 9.1 release which used to be called plain hdlist.cz and the said MD5SUM files lists it as hdlist.cz but the base area has hdlist1.cz and not hdlist.cz. cat /mnt/cdrom/VERSION Mandrake Linux 9.2 Ken-download-i586 20030826 19:56 I have confirmed my ISO files have a proper checksums. parag shah

[Cooker] radeonfb initialisation through drakboot?
I have tried all i can to get lilo to boot radeonfb into 1024x768 on latest cooker kernel and cant seem to manage that at all :( I am wondering if its possible to provide a choice of making device specific framebuffer installed at lilo install time during the 9.2 install? Also if anyone in the group has managed to make radeonfb work i would dearly love to get some pointers. I allready have radeonfb built into initrd with --with as well as --preload options which does load radeonfb but not in 1024x768 :( and i have tried both video=radeon:[EMAIL PROTECTED] as well as video=radeonfb:[EMAIL PROTECTED] as append to my lilo entry and nothing has worked i have no idea what i am doing wrong?
