Re: [Cooker] Re: kronolith or php-pear RPM in 9.2 & Contribs missing php-pear Date module
Oden Eriksson wrote: I admit I know nothing about pear. I have checked how PLD is doing it, and their list is about 180 php-pear-* packages. Is this the way to do it? I started a php script some time ago (last chrismas ?)to build a mandrake rpm from a pear package name (quite simple as a package is well described, with dependencies, test files, ...). That would generate a lot of packages so they couldn't be tested manually, so the script would have to automaticallay run the test programs. This could be done quite easily as pear has a command run-tests to run the regression tests. I didn't finish because not many people looked interested. The point is to decide if this is usefull as pear already has commands to install/update packages.

However, today I started to have problems. When trying to do "cvs update", I would see the following stdout: can't create temporary directory /root/tmp/cvs-serv# (where # is a PID). I fixed it by adding the line I show above. Today I did my daily update to cooker, I am not sure why the problem started though. But there appears to be an error in line 28 which keeps this from happening: if [ -d /etc/ppp/ip-up.d/ -x /usr/bin/run-parts ]; then /usr/bin/run-parts /etc/ppp/ip-up.d/ fi The directory is there, and run-parts is executable, but it's not getting run. I changed this to if [ -d /etc/ppp/ip-up.d/ ] && [ -x /usr/bin/run-parts ]; then /usr/bin/run-parts /etc/ppp/ip-up.d/ fi and it worked fine. In ip-down, the corresponding statement reads if [ -d /etc/ppp/ip-down.d/ -a -x /usr/bin/run-parts ]; then /usr/bin/run-parts /etc/ppp/ip-down.d/ fi so the problem is probably the missing " -a ".

This is not possible as only root can do it if the 'user' option is not specified in the fstab. Let's clarify the test: 1. disconnect the USBSD (usb storage device) 2. remove any entry referencing it in the fstab 3. connect the USBSD 4. NOTHING is dynamically created in the fstab *** 5. run harddrake2 6. look at the fstab : none /mnt/hd supermount dev=/dev/sdb1,fs=ext2:vfat,--,kudzu,codepage=850,iocharset=iso8859-15 0 0 this is not correct for 2 reasons: a. only root can unmount it (so if a desktop icon is associated with this entry it cannot be used to unmount the USBSD FS) b. since it is a supermount entry for a removable writable device, writes should be synchronous, thus the sync option is missing or you can loose data on disconnect There is a conflict between hotplug and harddrake somewhere ... hotplug should create a fstab entry upon connect and remove it upon disconnect. harddrake should not interfere with this. Now I get logued out immediatly with everything killed if I miss another icon (lock for example) and click on this one. Is this a bug or a decided change of behaviour ? If it is a bug, wher should I look (gdm, my conf (create another panel ?)...) Any suggestion welcome.
[Cooker] kde kcontrol khtml_fonts applet freeze trying to change font selection for internet navigation
Using latest cooker (as available from broken mirrors), I am unable to change fonts in kcontrol for konqueror (process kdeinit: kcmshell khtml_fonts ). The panel appears OK When I open a font combo box, only the first font is rendered and the rest of combo lines is blank. At the same time, the panel freeze, and focus is frozen too. To get a usable kde then : I have to go to a text console with CTRL-ALT-F1, kill the kcontrol applet return to KDE ALT-F8 switch virtual desktop using my internet keyboard special key cam someone test this strange behaviour please ?
