[Cooker] Kmail can't count

2001-03-26 Thread Vincent Meyer

Hello,

It seems Kmail can't count. I created a folder to move cooker mail
to. I created a filter rule to move all mail with "cooker" in the subject to
the new folder, went to inbox, hit select all then apply filter rules.

OK, my cooker folder now has 133 messages with -1 unread.
Yep - negative one unread. Does this mean i read something twice? :-)
Any idea how to fix this?

Also, HOW can I move my tons of old Netscape mail into KMail?
A much older version all I had to do was move the folder, and KMail would
create an index for it. That doesn't work anymore, hasn't since 7.2

Melchior FRANZ [EMAIL PROTECTED] posted these instructions on
the KDE User List:

  * create a mail folder "netscape" in kmail
  * quit kmail
  * make the link:
$ ln -s ~/nsmail ~/Mail/.netscape.directory

Now you have all the nsmail folders as subfolders in the newly
created "netscape" folder. (This time tested! ;-)

Yep, Tried that.. and IS time tested.. it worked GREAT under 7.2
Unfortunately, doesn't work anymore? I'm assuming that we're talking
linking file to file, not directory to directory. I did:

ln -s "/mnt/windows/Program Files/Netscape/Users/meyerv/Mail/inbox"
/root/Mail/netscape

Created the link where the old file was. KMail sees the folder, has nothing
in it.

AH HA!  Spoke too soon!

OK, there IS a catch. HAVE to remove the index file for it. KMail doesn't
do any internal checking to see if the index file is correct. (netscape does,
and under windows will invalidate and rebuild a mail folder if it has been
altered - so when I go back to windows the mail should be ok)

Re-created the link, DELETED the index file - and KMail built a new one
with all my old mail.

Thanks for the tip!
