Anyway, it's SUNs interest to have as many people as possible using
StarOffice... After all, they are fighting the Big Microsoft Giant...
And having it licensed to Linux distributors for inclusion in boxed
distribution is a good thing for both (Sun and Linux company). It's
using Linux market to infiltrate Windows Market (for places where both
enviroments are in use).

For StarOffice, you can put on an unlimited number of computers in your
company, you only pay one license (if you buy it from Mandrake).
For Handcom, I don't know

usually we say that porting Mandrake to a new platform costs 40% of the
global budget. The last 60% come from supporting platform in the long term

Actually, that is what I'm afraid of. I'm not the only end-user. I'm an
admin and wanted to know what kind of licensing for this and Hancom for
multiple users in a company.

I've sent queries to Denis, but no answers.

Taken for the EULA:
"2. Linux End User License To Use. Subject to the terms and conditions of
this Agreement, if you are a Linux operating system end user and you received
the Software as part of a Linux operating system bundle, Sun grants you a
non-exclusive and non-transferable license for the internal use only of the

Hi,

So long as Sun let the Mandrakers stay semi-independent, it probably
*would* be a good thing. Certainly Sun could help move Linux to higher end
systems, and have a suitable replacement to offer as more and more people
move away from Solaris.
For Mandrake, it would mean they probably would have enough funds to go on
for a long time, would finally get a working out-of-the-box Java setup for
Konqi, and would have the opportunity to support highend boxen.

Hmm... Debian isn't so bad if you can get past the installation. Otherwise,
I did a search on Google, and turned up the fact that you can download SuSE
Linux 7.3 for SPARC (ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/sparc/7.3/iso/)... you can
also read more Linux/SPARC stuff at http://www.ultralinux.org/ .

It's fairly standard to offer bulk licensees a vastly reduced price.
With several thousand users, Mandrake probably has to pay something, but
less than $100.

This is kind of similar to M$'s bulk discounts (especially to OEMs). I
would doubt that Dell or Gateway pays more than $40 for Windows or $75
for Office.
