Of course, I know this is what I get for trying our reiserfs without fully knowing what I am doing. Pat

Let me see if I understand this. The reason that I can't do a mkinitrd after
I upgrade to 2.2.16 is that loop.o is not already in memory before the
upgrade?
If I insmod this and then do a "rpm -U" on the new kernel package,
everything will be ok? Will loop.o still exist (and be usable) in my modules
in the 2.2.16?

I had the same problem- use the '--force' option.
After Mandrake Update finished (error messages were the same on two machines),
