Is it not the case? At least for G400 fb was disbled. It needs special kernel support as it does _not_ have full VBE support (theres a DOS TSR to add it). So I compiled my own kernel with the support built-in. Works fine except it will need some video mode tweaking. Could anyone enable the fb? Theres no problem with it, you just need the driver loaded some time during boot when it is not built-in. -- Michal Suchanek [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Compare the output of lspci -v with what > lspcidrake -v prints. the goal of lspcidrake is not to replace lspci. In fact lspcidrake is just a simple example of what can be obtained with ldetect (which use ldetect-lst). - use lspci when you want precise pci information - use lspcidrake when you want to know the module which will make your card work One advantage of lspcidrake is that it probes subids only when needed or asked (and probing subids (which means reading /proc/bus/pci/*/*) can freeze the box)

A pretty different aim from lspci's. That's why I don't really see why Francois said they should be merged :-). -- Guillaume Cottenceau - http://people.mandrakesoft.com/~gc/

So sprach »François Pons« am 2002-01-10 um 15:35:46 +0100 : > use lspcidrake, we need merging of these tools. Oh, you're right. lspcidrake knows the G550. However, I don't like lspcidrake. It prints fewer information (the rev. number is missing) and I don't like the layout of the output. Don't know, but wouldn't it be better to dump lspcidrake and enhance lspci to print in a form you need? I also don't see why we need yet another tool that prints the pci: 1) cat /proc/pci 2) lspci 3) lspcidrake lspci can be found on RedHat, SuSE and Mandrake (debian too?). So it's a kinda universal tool. lspcidrake can only be found on Mandrake. And since it doesn't add much (besides formatting)...
