[Cooker] Segmentation Fault

2003-02-23 Thread Trevor Rhodes
This is a strange problem that is hard to describe under any particular
heading.

I run Setiathome and have never had a problem with errors till I updated the
beta two days ago when the errors started (immediately).

./setistack: line 99: 2440 Segmentation fault ./setiathome
-stop_after_process -verbose

I just thought something was corrupted, so deleted the whole seti directory,
downloaded fresh copies and run it again. It immediately errored in the same
fashion and has continued to do so through another two reinstalls of seti and
another update to the beta.

Does anyone else run seti and encountered any errors?

 Regards
  Trevor Rhodes

Mike,

I got the same 'mem missing' segfault installing on Athlon 900, 512Mb
RAM. The problem in my case appears the be that I was using software
RAID for / and /usr. I reinstalled only RAIDing /home and it went
fine (after failing 3 times in about the same place before).

Any use to you ?

Cheers,
Robin

Check your bios and see if any of the OS/2 "memory hole" options have gotten
turned on. (OS/2 had some weird thing about wanting a hole in memory between
15M and 16M. I have no idea why.) That will cause all sorts of harm. (Not
certain why it is even in any bioses nowadays...)

[Cooker] segmentation fault

2002-02-24 Thread mike

Hi

on the new beta 3 trying to install I get a segmentation fault message,
error 13,
and then it says " memory seems to be missing as the installation
crashes "

This is on a p 200mmx intel box with 128 meg of ram

Anyone know what it means or how to fix it?

I was doing a text expert install and it did this right at the point
where it was looking for packages to install. it had just asked if I had
the second cd and I had answered yes then it said it was looking for
packages to install, a few seconds later
I got the message and it terminated the install.

 Mike
