i think it's fine. my brother had rebooted it once to winxp and it
seemed to still works fine (despite a disk scan since ntfsresize

Let them have the privelege of having the checkbox "Set Windows

How about Thierry's Winxp box? Or did his installation die when he
resized it ;-). Otherwise, I can make you screenshots (since rdesktop
works ...), but not today ... it's definitely time to go home ...

Actually, looking at userdrake again, biggest issue is easily changing
between user and group view, and lack of extra LDAP-only attributes. I
will have to think and play a bit more ... but I wouldn't want to see
the context menus disappear ...

It is the ui, but not significant work. But I haven't done much gtk, so
it took me a while ... UIs should in most cases not have jargon or

I know as much about perl as I do about gtk (ie I can hack, but not much
more) ... but debugging segfaults probably ain't so much fun. Plus pixel
wants me to rework the diskdrake resize ui ;-).

But I would guess a rewrite would probably not make 9.1? And, while
rewriting, it might be an idea to look at something like win2k's user
manager ... Also, more LDAP support (win2k's AD support for example)
would be cool.

Anyone get userdrake to work? I'm having problems with it. It seems to
start the process, then it goes into the background and disappears. The
same thing happens when clicking on users in drakconf. Also, it seems
to create the files /etc/gtmp and /etc/ptmp, then leave those behind.
Generally I need to delete those files to try to start the program, but
then it still doesn't open. I tried upgrading to the newest userdrake,
but still no luck. Is this a bug, or is there something I can do to fix
this?

This is because you have a "editldapdirectory=yes" in your .userdrakerc.
Go in "Settings", "Preferences",uncheck "Edit Accounts on a LDAP
directory". Next release will have an error window if the same problem
occur. But it's not a bug, it's a configuration problem.

This file is created by /etc/X11/Xsession. Userdrake read it when
autologin is activated. If you don't want autologin activated, look in
/etc/sysconfig/autologin.

[Cooker] Userdrake suggestion - larger icons for users

2001-05-06 Thread Alexander Skwar

Hi.

In userdrake it's possible to select the image which should be displayed
when logging in via {g,k}dm. These images are tiny compared to what they
look like in {g,k}dm.

Would it be possible to display those icons the same size as they appear in
{g,k}dm? Also I might want to suggest that the icons are moved away from
the right click context menu onto the user details screen you get when
double clicking on a user. On this dialog, there should be enough space to
display one icon in full size. Another adavantage would be, that it would
be possible to add another button there which would allow the admin to
"upload" an image which should be displayed for this user.

If you want to keep an overview about all the possible/available icons, I'd
suppose that you could add a hot spot which displays all the icons when
clicked on the same way it is now. Hmm, or maybe do not remove the way
icons can be selected now, but add what I suggested above (2nd paragraph) so
that both ways are possible.

On the userdetails screen there should be an up-/down-arrow switching thru
the available icons.

What do you think? Possible?

[Cooker] userdrake reverse sorts /etc/group file

2001-04-16 Thread Ural Khassanov

Hi

Userdrake 0.3-2mdk:
1. Toolbar icons are big and don't fit on toolbar, so toolbar edges are bad.
2. After saving, /etc/group file is resorted in reverse order.
For example, fragment of my /etc/group file:
root:x:0:root
bin:x:1:root,bin,daemon
...
roman:x:506:

After adding user test (new group test) we got:
roman:x:506:
...
bin:x:1:root,bin,daemon
root:x:0:root
test:x:507:

This is discourage behaviour for users. In some programs (midnight commander's chown
dialog window)
user-selection and group-selection lists become messed.

[Cooker] userdrake: Bigger faces

2001-03-12 Thread Alexander Skwar

Hi!

Would it be possible to have the faces that are displayed when right
clicking on a name and choosing "Change face" to be displayed in the same
size as they are when logging in? Hmm, maybe it even should be moved to the
dialog that pops up when double clicking a name? The dialog is a rather
"tall" and has some unused space on there - why not put the face there?
