Re: [Coworking] Re: Who's shopping for electronic door locks?

2010-11-25 Thread Frederik Denkens
Hi everybody,

We are considering getting something going based on the Arduino DIY platform
and a magnetic lock. Advantages of the platform: open, cheap and extendable.

Our requirements:

- Remote programable (as in the case for operating 2 spaces) through ethernet
or Wifi
- Open (eg no proprietary software/platforms/licensing)
- Able to drive an electronic lock
- Work with RFID tags (and maybe later on with Bluetooth and sms because that's
just cool :-)
- Cheap
- Only used for day-lock, so potential reliability issues are more manageable

Regards,

Frederik.

Jacob,

Thanks for the pointers! I just sent them both an email, let's see what comes
back.

In any case if we do come up with something working, we'll be sure to share our
experience.

Frederik.

[Coworking] % of membership-fee represents rent

2010-07-15 Thread Frederik Denkens | iLibris
Hi everybody,

I'm in the process of making some calculations for a fee structure to start
coworking in Antwerp (Belgium). I made a complete financial plan and linked
this to some membership fees (full, partial and drop-in). Afterwards I
calculated what percentage the actual rent represents in these plans. In my
case the rent is quite a significant part.

Maybe it would a good idea to compare cost partitions in relation to the
membership fees to get an idea what is 'normal', given the necessary
interpretation off course.

In my case (location Antwerp, space of max 25 people) varies from 35% (full
membership) to 25% (day pass).

Regards,

Frederik Denkens.

[Coworking] Blogpost on Coworking in Antwerp/Belgium

2010-01-28 Thread Frederik Denkens

Hi all,

Although I'm not sure if there's any Dutch-speaking people on the
list, I thought it would be a good idea to let everybody know that I
took my first step in testing the waters for starting a coworking
space in Antwerp in Belgium.

It basically quickly describes what coworking is, describes some
alternatives and then communicates the process that I'm following in
this exciting journey. If we get enough buzz and really interested
people, I'll probably go forward with the plan.

The Dutch article is here:
http://www.coworker.be/index.php/coworking-een-innovatief-werk-concept-in-antwerpen
The article also links to a survey.

Frederik Denkens

Sébastien,

too bad you're looking in Antwerp, as I'm seriously considering
starting one in Antwerp :-)

But somebody told me there is one in Brussels, but I don't know the
name.
