Simultaneously, the agency released a 378-page volume of 24 newly
declassified documents that, officials claimed, showed the CIA did far
better than its critics have said in anticipating the Soviet Union's
demise in 1991.  Mel Goodman, who is a former CIA Soviet analyst now a
professor at the National War College and a frequent and rather caustic
critic of CIA, has an op-ed piece in the Washington Post (12/19) that
takes issue with the conference and its theme that the "CIA got it
right."  According to Dr Goodman, "At best, this is an exercise in
self-deception. As one of the agency's Soviet analysts during the 1980s,
I had a front-row seat from which to view our performance; if I had been
invited to give my assessment at the Texas A&M conference, I would have
offered a far more dismal--but, I believe, far more accurate--evaluation
of how we did.

This newsletter, specifically addresses the issue of leadership, positive and
negative, as it affects the readiness of our armed forces at all levels.  The
series directly highlights an apparent disconnect between our senior leaders
and those they are entrusted to lead and mentor - the junior officers in the
ranks from Lieutenant (O-1/2) and Captain (O-3), and our non-commissioned
officer corps.  As a recently published article by Sean Naylor in the Army
Times exposed, the "Warrior Spirit", in the past the trademark of the
up-front combat leader, seems to have fallen victim to the "smooth operator"
style required to be successful into today's social-engineered and political
correct force.  The motto: "go along to get ahead!"

The Special is not only intended as criticism but could serve as a mirror for
self-reflection and discussion material for professional development sessions
on leadership.

Although the basic leadership principles are applicable in all services, the
first Special focuses on the US Army.  I would invite all readers of VOTG to
contribute to the future editions that will cover all other services. Tell us

CHANGE OF MISSION: Time for an After Action Review (AAR) on the Army of the
1990s
~~~
Article #1 is written by a junior officer in a front line combat battalion.
He clearly expresses the junior officer frustration with the senior ranks,
who refuse to recognize that all is not well.  To repair itself from within,
the Army must become more self- critical.  More studies by general officer
think tanks, consultants that report the party line, or hiding the results of
leadership surveys won't bring required change.  ZIMM.

Lead by example.  These words are more than just a phrase that has been
drummed into every officer's head from the time of his commissioning.  They
are words to live by for leaders of any organization, especially a military
organization.  The principle holds that when all else fails, soldiers will
look to the leadership in order to see what to do.  I believe in that.  It
makes sense and I have seen its truth every day in the training room, motor
pool, and battlefield.  As an officer in the United States Army, I am
expected to lead by example, on duty as well as off.  I expect the same from
my superior officers. Sadly, in my short time on active duty I have seen very
little leadership by example from the highest echelons of the chain of
command.  I have been trying to look into the uncertain future of our Army in
order to make some choices concerning my own destiny, but it is difficult to
make a decision because I cannot decide which press release to believe.  Only
one fact is clear.  When the smokescreen created by self-serving press
releases clears, I see an example of leadership that I do not want to follow.

Officers are taught that a tough and honest assessment of our performance
is the key to improvement.  We conduct after action reviews (AAR) of our
tactical missions where everyone from the lowest private on up is afforded
the opportunity to speak.  When they do speak, we are expected to listen and
think hard about how we as leaders can do better.  More importantly, we are
expected to make the organization that we are in charge of better.  Nothing
is sacred and we have to own up to our own shortcomings.  "No thin skins" is
rule #1 of any AAR I have ever been a part of.  The problem with our Army is
that those at the top who preach the value of the brutally truthful AAR,
refuse to have the same principles applied to their performance.
The lowest private has spoken, and he continues to speak on a daily basis
about what could be done better with our Army.  He has a lot to say; only
when it concerns this area, no one is listening.  In recent articles in the
Army Times, Generals act shocked to hear that something is wrong.  "Problem?
There's no problem with the Army; everything and everyone are just great.

The Phoenicians never 'became Philistines' -- the Philistines were

HEREFORD - The Amarillo Globe Daily News story reports: Law-enforcement
officers in the Hereford, Texas found they had something in common with
officers in the Taos, N.M. On Dec. 9, 1978, officers found out that a
metallic material on the hides of mutilated Texas cows was nearly identical
to the material found on mutilated cows in New Mexico. The unexplained
mutilations occurred during the previous summer. Between 15 and 20 of the
mutilations happened near Hereford while 12 cattle were killed inexplicably
in northern New Mexico. In both places, the mutilations were discovered after
local people reported seeing UFOs. To make the incident even more strange,
ranchers in both places reported that the udders, rectums, tongues, ears,
testicles and sometimes tails were cut off the animals with sharp and precise
instruments. Entire reproductive tracts were missing from some of the
animals. But other cattle were left intact. Officers in both places reported
that there were no tracks or traces of human activity around or leading to
where the cattle were found dead. The substance found at both places looked
like slivers of gray paint and contained high amounts of potassium and
magnesium. The material was not fully identified, but was believed to be some

Civilian Inmate Labor

The Army has established civilian inmate labor programs on twelve
installations since FY 89. Four resident programs (prison camps) are at Fort
Bliss, Fort Dix, and Camp Atterbury. Eight non-resident (off-post) programs
are at Parks Reserve Forces Training Area, Red River Army Depot, Fort Lee,
Fort McClellan, Fort Stewart, Fort McPherson, Fort Indian Town Gap, and
Anniston Army Depot. Fort Dix has two resident programs (prison camps) using
civilian inmates from both federal and state penal systems. Camp Atterbury's
resident program uses state civilian inmates. These ten programs average an
annual net cost avoidance ranging from $263,000 to $3,500,000.

Inmate labor does not interfere with the installation's operation and
mission. Civilian inmates provide a source of labor to Army installations to
accomplish needed tasks that would not otherwise be possible under current
manning and funding constraints. Inmate labor is intended to augment the
Army's civilian and military work force and contractor effort. Inmate labor
does not displace an existing in-house or contractor work force. The Army
does not pay direct labor costs for inmate labor but does incur equipment,
materials, supplies, transportation, and program administration costs to use
inmate labor.

Services provided by inmates are defined by 18 USC 4125(a) and include
preservation and maintenance of grounds and facilities; construction, repair
and demolition of buildings; road repair; custodial services; and
transportation of debris to recycling centers. Only minimum security inmates
are available under the Army's civilian inmate labor program. Army personnel
do not provide security supervision of inmate work details, but do monitor
and account for inmate presence or absence in an assigned work area.

Installation inmate labor programs are established via a memorandum of
agreement (MOA) between the installation and the local correctional facility.
The installation also develops an inmate labor plan governing operation of
inmate labor details on the installation. The MOA and inmate labor plan are
forwarded through command channels to HQDA for approval.

OACSIM manages the civilian inmate labor program and is finishing a
regulation covering policy and procedures for civilian inmate labor.

Army's use of inmate labor is now limited to federal civilian inmates. No
federal statute allows military installations to accept inmate labor from
off-post state and local correctional facilities. Numerous installations wish
to use civilian inmates from state or local correctional facilities off-post.
A DOD Services working is drafting a legislative proposal to gain support
from labor unions, the Department of Labor and the State Department before
presenting the revised proposal to Congressional staffers.

Section 1065 of the FY 95 Defense Authorization Act allows the Army to
conduct a demonstration project until October 1996. This demonstration
project tests the feasibility of using Army facilities to provide employment
training to nonviolent offenders in a State penal system before their release
from incarceration. The Army has selected Forts Bragg, Hood, and Campbell as
test sites. Functions performed by state civilian inmates will be similar to
those performed by federal civilian inmates. State civilian inmate use will
be governed by the same policy applied to federal civilian inmates. Such
policy covers supervision, non-DOD employee interference in inmate labor
details, type of inmates allowed on inmate labor details, and use of
facilities and land. Each test site is negotiating an MOA and inmate labor
plan with their respective correctional facility.

Overall, commanders with civilian inmate labor programs have been pleased
with civilian inmate labor results. The Federal Bureau of Prisons in
particular is a cooperative partner and active participant in the commander's
base operations support mission.

This year will be the first full moon to occur on the winter
solstice, Dec. 22nd, commonly called the first day of winter.

Since a full moon  on the  winter solstice occurs in conjunction
with a lunar perigee (point in  the  moon's orbit that is closest to Earth),
the moon will appear about  14%  larger than it does at apogee
(the point in it's elliptical orbit  that is farthest from the Earth).

Since the Earth is also several million miles closer to the sun at this
time of the year than in the summer, sunlight striking the moon is
about 7% stronger making it brighter.  Also,  this will  be the closest
perigee of the Moon of the year since the moon's orbit is  constantly
deforming.

If the weather is clear and there is a snow  cover where you live,it is
believed that even car headlights will be superfluous.

On December 21st, 1866 the Lakota Sioux took advantage of this
combination of occurrences and staged a devastating retaliatory
ambush on soldiers in  the Wyoming Territory.

In laymen's terms it will be a super bright full moon, much more
than the usual AND it hasn't happened this way for 133 years!

Our ancestors 133 years ago saw this.  Our descendants 100 or so
years from  now will see this again. I hope someone else might find this
interesting!

Remember this will happen December 22, 1999.

 Forces to train the Chinese Communist People's Liberation Army.
 Now, WND's roving international reporter Anthony LoBaido
 updates this ongoing story with his exclusive eyewitness report
 from within China.

 HONG KONG SPECIAL ADMINISTRATIVE REGION, Peoples Republic of
 China -- The would-be People's Liberation Army Special Forces
 recruits sit in rapt attention, arranged in several neat little
 rows.  Sweating under the fall sun, the young men sport white
 karate uniforms and crew cuts.

 The Chinese soldiers listen intently to Master Fang, a
 recognized guru of the Chinese martial arts.  Master Fang has
 spent a lifetime honing his craft, and now has chosen to impart
 his mastery to those lucky enough to have him as their mentor.

 "God is nothing more than the masses of the Chinese people,"
 he tells the recruits, who kneel silently before him.

 "The Chinese people have literally moved mountains, built the
 Burma Road, migrated across the continent with entire cities
 loaded in ox carts," he intones.  "Our physicists built our
 first atomic bomb using only the abacus for their calculations.
 Therefore I tell you, what the mind perceives, the body can
 achieve.  What the mind of our leadership conceives, the body
 of a united PLA Special Forces can and must achieve."

 Master Fang then holds up a large portrait of Lei Feng, the
 patriotic idol of the People's Liberation Army.  Feng was an
 ordinary soldier killed by a falling telephone pole back in the
 1960s, but his diary, filled with devotion to Chairman Mao, was
 published as an example of the finest character traits a PLA
 soldier can aspire to attain.  The legend of Lei Feng has grown
 to unimaginable levels.  He is now remembered as a combination
 of Boy Scout, philanthropist, social worker, cadre leader par
 excellence and spirited soldier.

 "Lei Feng never had the chance to serve in the special forces.
 But his spirit can live on through your efforts," Master Fang
 tells the eager recruits.

 His motivational talk complete, Master Fang claps his hands
 quickly and barks at the recruits in Mandarin.  The recruits
 immediately leap to their feet, moving in a lithe manner and
 with great purpose.

 The 27 recruits divide themselves into "teams" of three men
 each.  Two of the aspiring special forces soldiers hold a two
 foot by two foot wooden board, about two inches thick, high
 overhead from opposite sides.  The third "team" member waits
 for Master Fang's cue.  When the Master claps his hands once,
 the bare-footed young man launches forward into a 360-degree
 somersault.  Spinning rapidly at the 180-degree level, the
 young recruit hangs completely upside down in mid air.  At this
 point, the soldier's heels smacks into the board, breaking it
 cleanly in two pieces.  The soldier then completes his spin and
 lands cat-like on his feet, back in his starting position.

 Master Fang nods his head slightly.  It is all the approval the
 young man will receive -- or needs for that matter.

 Like the rapidly spinning airborne ninja party witnessed by
 WorldNetDaily, U.S.-Sino relations threaten to spin wildly out
 of control over a kaleidoscope of issues.

 The Clinton administration's policy of engagement with
 Communist China -- from the sale of advanced missile, satellite
 and computer technology, to the 21-gun salute given at
 Arlington National Cemetery to the architect of the 1989
 Tiananmen Square massacre, to the relinquishing of the Panama
 Canal to de facto Chinese control -- has, in the eyes of the
 administration's critics, brought China's once-antiquated
 military-industrial complex into the 21st century.

 The latest controversial issue to emerge in the president's
 "strategic partnership" with Red China is the scheduled
 deployment of U.S. Special Forces soldiers -- SEALS, Delta
 Force, Green Berets and Marine Force Recon -- to mainland China
 in an effort to train alongside the People's Liberation Army's
 own Special Forces, and moreover, to train the PLA's regular
 infantry.

 "The U.S. Special Forces troops are what I would call 'Ronin,'"
 said Master Fang in an interview with WorldNetDaily.  Master
 Fang has been training PLA Special Forces since 1990.

 "The Ronin were Japanese Samurai who lost their master.
 Without a master to fight for, they committed suicide.  As your
 president is so hated by his own military servants, the Special
 Forces of America have by default turned into Ronin."

  I. INTRODUCTION
  1. Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a facility managed and funded 
  by the United States Department of Energy and operated by the University of 
  California. LANL is responsible for the research, design, development and safe 
  stewardship for approximately 85% of the U.S. nuclear arsenal. LANL is located 
  within the State and District of New Mexico.
  2. The X Division at LANL has responsibility for the research, design and 
  development of thermonuclear weapons in the U.S. nuclear arsenal. The X 
  Division shares the highest level of security of any division at LANL.
  3. The defendant WEN HO LEE resides in New Mexico. Between 1980 and 
  December 23, 1998, WEN HO LEE was assigned to the X Division at LANL as a 
  hydrodynamicist/engineer. While employed at LANL in the X Division, defendant 
  WEN HO LEE held a Q clearance, which allowed WEN HO LEE access to Top Secret 
  information and Restricted Data information. On December 23, 1998, the 
  defendant WEN HO LEE, was transferred from the X Division to an unclassified 
  area within another division at LANL. Defendant WEN HO LEE's employment at 
  LANL was terminated on March 8, 1999.
  II. RESTRICTED DATA
  4. The term "Restricted Data" means all data concerning: (1) the design, 
  manufacture or utilization of atomic weapons: (2) the production of special 
  nuclear material; or (3) the use of special nuclear material in the production 
  of energy. 42 U.S.C.§ 2014(y).
  5. Secret Restricted Data (SRD) denotes information that is classified 
  "secret" within the category of Restricted Data. SRD is applied to information 
  the unauthorized disclosure of which reasonably could be expected to cause 
  serious damage to national security. SRD information is the most closely 
  guarded level and category of information that is routinely used within the X 
  Division at LANL.
  6. Confidential Restricted Data (CRD) denotes information that is 
  classified "confidential" within the category of Restricted Data. CRD is 
  applied to information the unauthorized disclosure of which reasonably could 
  be expected to cause damage to national security.
  III. LEE'S REPRESENTATIONS REGARDING CLASSIFIED INFORMATION 
  NON-DISCLOSURE
  7. On June 28, 1987, the defendant WEN HO LEE signed a statement 
  representing to the United States that:
  
  a. Intending to be legally bound, I (defendant WEN HO LEE) hereby accept 
the obligations contained in this Agreement in consideration of my being 
granted access to classified information. As used in this Agreement, 
classified information is information that is classified under the standards 
of Executive Order 12356, or under any other Executive Order or statute that 
prohibits the unauthorized disclosure of information in the interest of 
national security. I (defendant WEN HO LEE) understand and accept that by 
being granted access to classified information, special confidence and trust 
shall be placed in me by the United States Government.
b. I (defendant WEN HO LEE) hereby acknowledge that I (defendant WEN HO 
LEE) have received a security indoctrination concerning the nature and 
protection of classified information, including the procedures to be 
followed in ascertaining whether other persons to whom I (defendant WEN HO 
LEE) contemplate disclosing this information have been approved for access 
to it, and that I (defendant WEN HO LEE) understand these procedures.
c. I (defendant WEN HO LEE) have been advised and am aware that direct or

GOP Sitting on Clinton Shockers

During last December's House impeachment investigation the Judiciary
Committee gathered a treasure trove of politically explosive information
on President Clinton,
much of which has never been  released. But Republicans currently have
no plans to make those secrets public, Georgia Rep. Bob Barr told Inside
Cover Monday.

The materials, stored in D.C.'s General Ford Building, are said to
include evidence on Clinton's alleged rape of Juanita Broaddrick, the
intimidation of other women
and , according to one source, the sexual harassment of up to three
female Secret Service agents.

The still secret evidence may be historic. A number wavering moderate
Republicans reportedly moved into the pro-impeachment column after
visiting the Ford
Building evidence room. Their votes provided the razor thin margin of
victory for two articles of impeachment voted against Clinton on Dec.19.

Inside Cover caught up with Rep. Barr on Bob Grant's nationally
syndicated WOR radio show and asked him what will happen to the still
sealed evidence on
Clinton:

"The chances that the Ford Building material will ever be made public
will depend entirely on the American people. If the American people
demand it through their
representatives, then it will be. But unfortunately right now, there is
simply very little interest on the part of our leadership in the
Congress to raise these matters, to
pursue them. There are few of us, such as Dan Burton of Indiana, who are
trying to get to the bottom of these things to the degree that we can.
But by and large the
leadership has made a decision that they don't want to touch any of this
stuff. So as of now the information, the evidence will not go anywhere."

Though Barr was pessimistic on prospects for making Clinton impeachment
secrets public, he did add, "The House could decide, if it had the
backbone to do so, it
could decide to release the evidence."

Reactions from Congressman familiar with the Ford Building secrets
suggest they are extremely shocking.

Rep. Chris Shays (R-CT) told the New York Rimes that the evidence on
Clinton is, "Very alarming and very unsettling," involving, "conduct by
the President that is
alleged to be pretty horrific."

After reviewing the same material. Rep. Matt Salmon (R-AZ) told the
Arizona Republic, "I came away nauseated. There are things that go far
beyond what we've
heard."

One Washington wag told Inside Cover in January that the secret evidence
on Bill Clinton reduced Rep. Mike Castle (R-DE) to tears.

THE CRIMINALIZATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL FINANCE SYSTEM

Organized crime and governments are interconnected with a third constituent
part of narcostatization, the transnational financial system. This challenges
two main assumptions regarding the international financial system and
organized crime. The first assumption is that banks and the various national
financial systems are essentially opposed to any activity that allows
criminals to launder their profits and invest them in legitimate businesses.
The second assumption is that the complexities of the globalized financial
and trade systems make it difficult to control money laundering. However, the
rise of criminal banks and the activities of legitimate banks undermine the
first assumption and indicate that some components of the financial system
are frequently willing participants, rather than victims, of money
laundering. Furthermore, examples of cooperation across national borders
provide proof of successful enforcement against money laundering and
undermine the second assumption.

The breakdown of communism and state socialism and the incorporation of the
former states of the Soviet Union into a worldwide capitalist economy have
contributed to the expansion of global capitalism. Within this enlarged
capitalist environment, the organized criminal elements of the West have been
able to forge alliances and mutual financial relationships. The movement of
illicit commodities and illegally obtained legitimate goods and the financing
and laundering of profits have become global activities. In short,
international criminal organizations and illicit drug markets could not
operate successfully without the help of the international banking community.
This financial communityboth wittingly and unwittinglyhas been used
effectively to launder the profits generated by drug trafficking and other
criminal activities.

THE GLOBALIZATION OF FINANCIAL MARKETS

International political economists debate whether the globalization of
financial markets is the result of technological and economic developments or
of state policies. Interesting as that debate is, it does not alter the
reality that financial globalization has occurred. Policies of the most
powerful states, together with the agreements of the major central banks,
support globalization. However, the exploitation of the neoliberal
international financial order undermines its legitimacy. This
deligitimization arises from the enormous opportunities the new financial
order provides the criminal organizations to launder their illegal money.

The Bretton Woods system since the mid-1940s intended the global financial
system to be subordinate to the states' individual interests.[1] The
agreement was supposed to prevent international capital flows from
undermining welfare policies and trade liberalization. The Bretton Woods
system requested that the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) be put out
of business. Set up in 1930 under the sponsorship of private and central
bankers to manage the international debt problem created by Germany's
difficulty in meeting its reparation payments from World War 1, BIS hosted
meetings of private and central bankers on a monthly basis. At these meetings
rules and procedures were developed for the BIS to act as the international
lender of last resort in financial crises. With headquarters in Basel,
Switzerland, the Bank of International Settlements served as a "central
banker's bank" and permitted international payments to be made by moving
credits from one country's account to another on the books of the bank. The
Young Plan, the effort to solve Germany's reparation problem, embodied this
arrangement. Owen D. Young, for whom the plan was named, was an agent of J.
P. Morgan, the most powerful U.S. bank at the time.

GOT A MINUTE?
CONSIDER THIS...

You've been traveling cross-country, just a leisurely 'working vacation' by
car: you stop in San Francisco, and agree to split rent, temporarily, with
what seems like a nice young couple.
Unfortunately, it turns out that the 'nice young couple' have criminal
records, are selling 'crank' (methamphetamine) out of the apartment, and
worse yet, owe a major chunk of change to local biker gangs. In the meantime,
your car has been towed for a parking violation, you're strapped for cash to
get it out of hock, and death-threats from the biker stepuglies are flying as
thick as divorce lawyers in Tijuana.

You finally acquire transportation - the nice young couple agree to trade
their broken-down panel truck to you in lieu of repaying you for covering
half of the rent, let alone the pizza delivery bills - so you gladly leave
Frisco behind and head back East, to civilization. Sometime in the next few
days after you leave, your roomies end up very dead.

There are numerous witnesses to the death-threats; one of them is a known
police informant (who lived with the 'nice young couple' before you did, and
got out when the death-threats began). The money disputes between your
ex-roomies and the biker stepuglies is common knowledge, and one of the
killers was gracious (and stupid) enough to leave his fingerprint, in engine
grease, on one of the bodies. While you could reasonably expect to be called
as a material witness (you're one of several witnesses to an altercation in
which one of your roomies got the crap beat out of him by a creditor, and
another in which the same creditor smacked the same roomie over the head with
a wooden cane), and you're obviously broken up about your roomies' deaths
(you spent Xmas partying with them, and now they're in the morgue), you're
expecting that the strongest impacts of this incident on your own life will
be 1) to keep you from ever even considering getting involved in retail crank
sales, and 2) to make you very happy that you got the hell out of Frisco when
you did.

Except for a possible appearance as a witness, your involvement in all this
is over, right? 'Fraid not...not by a long shot.

My name is Wayne Henderson, and I'm a writer - you might've read some of my
work in any number of 'zines, DHARMA COMBAT, STEAMSHOVEL PRESS, Donna Kossy's
KOOKS among them - in addition to that, I'm also currently a 'guest' of the
Hotel Kalifornia, and have been incarcerated here for sixteen years now. Why?
Read on, and you tell ME...

I've lived the situation I've just described...my girlfriend and I were the
ones who got the hell out of Frisco - on 12 January 1982 - and the 'nice
young couple', Ray and Angie, were alive and well (if somewhat stressed by
their biker creditors) when we left. Angie talked to the landlord on the
phone, on the afternoon of 13 January - more than 24 hours after we'd left
California; and our neighbors in the front apartment - Ron and Carol - had
seen Ray and Angie in and around the place as late as the weekend, 16-17
January...Ron and Carol had also witnessed one of the death-threats from the
biker stepuglies, made against everyone in the house.

The Frisco police themselves proved our whereabouts...we were in Reno, Nevada
at 1:30PM, on 12 January 1982, 24 hours before one of our alleged victims
spoke to the landlord on the phone; we didn't return to California until the
cops dragged us there, months later.

And why were we arrested? Again, you tell me...all the witnesses told the
cops about the death-threats, the drug debts, and how we'd been included in
those threats - just because we shared an apartment and partied with Ray and
Angie. It's beyond obvious that we weren't even in California when the
murders occurred, and wouldn't have any reason to kill people who, for
whatever faults they might've had, certainly knew how to party. But it gets
weirder, much weirder...
After repeated visits from the cops, witnesses either changed their stories
(disagreeing wildly with their recorded initial statements, even to the point
of stating impossibilities) or suffered odd and inexplicable memory loss...

The murder bullet, a .22 slug showing no rifling (and therefore likely fired
by Ray's own .22 pistol, which has never been found) is altered - and the
alteration is documented -

Contrary to the lofty verbiage of some judges, the system of "criminal
justice" practiced in this country is in fact a class (or caste) based
version of the Nazi Eugenic Courts; the wealthy, if ever they see the inside
of a courtroom as defendants, generally leave unscathed (except in
extraordinary cases, when they must perform some minimal penance in a soft,
cushy 'gentlemen's club' facility), and the Gestapo who serve their caste are
almost never held to answer for the tortures and abuses perpetrated upon the
slaves - while the poor, regradles of actual innocence, must be sent to the
slave labor camps and gladiatorial dungeons for the crime of being noticed by
the gestapo. This is not mere hyperbole; John & Patsy Ramsey plainly a bused
and killed their daughter, and little Matthew Eappen suffered the same fate
at the hands of his parents (far too much evidence has since come to light
for any reasonable person to believe that the English slave girl Woodard had
any part in his death) - are these wealthy, well-connected sociopaths being
held to answer? John DuPont plainly murdered a former national amateur
wrestling champion; he is allowed to "rehabilitate" in a comfortable private
asylum until he's "cured", or until the national attention is safely
diverted, whichever comes first. And yet there are countless cases, like my
own, in which innocent people have been imprisoned, and even executed, for
the crime of being poor. While I'm sure that what I'm saying is no to
surprise to my readers, it is incumbent upon me to do more than spoout
Bakuninist propaganda, puctuated by vague accusations, and expect to be taken
seriously. Further, if I'm going to win your attention, and your trust, I
should endeavor to make what I have to say useful to the reader: thus, in
order to properly illustrate the problem, as well as offer erudition, I will
walk you through my own case, and intersperse the prose with direct quotes
from "the law of the land", the official documents, such as the high-sounding
Supreme Court opinion cited above, to illustrate the vast, yawning chasm
between what is said and what is done.

The first fact that must be internalized is this: PIGS LIE. The gestapo are
trained to lie at gestapo academy; they are taught to cover up for their
fellow swine at all costs, no matter how egregious the behavior involved;
they are taught that the only unforgivable sin is to not take part in the
conspiracy; and, logically, they are taught that any lie they tell to get a
conviction will be gleefully supported by the testimony of other gestapo.

The gestapo don't merely twist facts, and are generally too stupid to engage
in clever subterfuge; they outright lie. Nor does it help to bring this to
the attention of the courts - they already know, and frankly don't care. To
illustrate, allow me to introduce a bit of my own case: all of the percipient
witnesses were interviewed, very near to the actual events, and gave clear
accounts of what they knew; their statements, each given from their own
perspective, interlocked to give a clear picture of events: after Velma (my
wife) and I left San Francisco on 12 January 1982, our alleged "victims" were
seen, alive and well (one of them spoke to the landlord on the phone, on 13
January) until the weekend of 16-17 January - at which time we were just
outside of Salt Lake City. Two of the witnesses had also clearly seen, and
heard, one of the victims' creditors make clear death-threats the stated (he
stated his intention to "kill ever yone in the house" over a debt owed him by
one of the victims; the threat plainly included Velma & myself)...and this
same creditor's name cropped up re-eatedly in police interviews with friends
and family members of the victims.

Though it's plain enough from the evidence that we were long gone when the
murders occurred, this proved no obstacle to the gestapo in their quest for a
conviction. An examination of the affidavit in support of arrest warrants
shows that the arresting pig --one Napoleon Hendrix - didn't merely twist
facts; he created a scenario out of whole cloth to justify a

McCain's Pain: Vets Doubt War Record


Brainwashed by the commies?

JOHN McCAIN, the former American prisoner of war challenging George W Bush
for the Republican presidential nomination, has found his own record being
questioned by the very people he claims to represent: fellow Vietnam
veterans.

Families and supporters of American soldiers classified as missing in action
(MIAs), have launched a concerted campaign against the Arizona senator's
attempt to become president. They claim that he has obstructed efforts to
uncover the truth about the 2,054 men whose deaths in Vietnam or neighbouring
countries have never been fully confirmed, and that he may even have
collaborated with the enemy while a PoW.

The bitterness of the complaints against him is at odds with his claim to
speak for all war veterans. He is counting on "vets" to build support in the
primary elections beginning in February, especially in South Carolina and
California - two crucial states where ex-soldiers comprise 10 per cent of
voters. However, opponents across the United States are using internet sites,
e-mails and veterans' mailing lists in a drive to debunk Mr McCain's war
record and mobilise opinion against him.

Ted Sampley, who served twice in Vietnam and now edits a veterans' newsletter
in North Carolina, said: "From the press he's been getting, if I didn't know
what I know, I'd be supporting him, too. But those of us who know about him
are afraid for him to be president. We'll do all we can to see that he's
defeated."

Mr McCain's critics claim that, while a prisoner of the North Vietnamese, he
was more co-operative than he needed to be. They say that he voted to curtail
senate hearings on missing servicemen, that he is brusque, impatient and rude
to relatives of MIAs, and that he was too quick to back President Clinton's
decision to normalise relations with Vietnam.

The MIA issue remains acutely sensitive because of suspicions that some
Americans may have been left behind - forgotten by the US government.
Families of some missing men suspect that a series of administrations have
been too fearful of the political and diplomatic fallout should live
prisoners be discovered.

Critics believe that prisoners who returned safely, such as Mr McCain, cannot
face the possibility that others may have been left behind. A senate select
committee inquiry, in which he was involved, concluded that, although there
was no proof that any unknown prisoners survived, there was no evidence that
all those who did not return had died.

Some of Mr McCain's critics question the extent to which he bowed to the
demands of his Communist captors during his six years of imprisonment, and
cite the frequency with which he was put up as an interview subject for
journalists on propaganda trips to Hanoi.

Mr McCain, who suffered multiple broken bones when his aircraft was shot
down, says he was hung up by ropes for four days until, in his desperation to
receive medical help, he began offering military information which he judged
was either of no consequence or was already publicly available.

Mr Sampley admitted that captured Americans had suffered brutal treatment in
Vietnam. But he pointed out that if Mr McCain was elected, it would be the
first time that an American president had spent years as a prisoner in the
hands of an enemy who "worked with a vengeance" to manipulate PoWs' brains.

Another critic is Carol Hrdlicke, whose husband David, a pilot, was shot down
in 1965. She was told by officials that he had died in captivity. The actual
date of his death remained in dispute, she says, until the Air Force finally
ruled that it had been 1968. Yet in 1994, she was told that her husband had
been interviewed by a Russian journalist a full year after that date.

She claimed that, as a senator, Mr McCain had tried to water down legislation
designed to strengthen the safeguards against MIAs being declared dead
prematurely.

At the senate hearings, Mr McCain is said by MIA families to have reduced one
of their number to tears. Dolores Alfond, from Bellevue in Washington state,
who chairs the 5,000-strong National Alliance of Families, lost her brother,
Major Victor Apodaca, who was declared missing in action in Vietnam in June
1967. She was on the receiving end of Mr McCain's tongue when he accused her
of holding out false hopes and impeding discovery of the truth. He had said
that he was "sick and tired" of criticisms over PoWs, she maintained.

"Every time our organisation works on legislation regarding MIAs or veterans,
McCain has always been there to stop us or throw obstacles in the way."

A group of Mr McCain's fellow prisoners has been mobilised by his campaign to
counter the criticisms. Orson Swindle, who spent months with him in
captivity, said: "In one form or another, each and every one of us submitted.

WAQF CONTINUES DESTRUCTION OF TEMPLE MOUNT: A resident
of Ma'aleh Zeitim -- the eastern Jerusalem neighborhood of Ras el-
Amoud -- noticed suspicious midnight activity Sunday night not far from
his house, and promptly called MK (Member of Knesset) Rabbi Benny
Elon (National Union) and an official of the Israel Antiquities Authority
(IAA). But it was too late: at least 100 trucks, hired by the Moslem
Waqf, had already begun a sudden midnight mission to transport tons of
dirt filled with unsifted and unexamined artifacts and dump it in the
Kidron Valley. The dirt was the by-product of the ongoing illegal Waqf
construction activity at Solomon's Stables under the Temple Mount. The
trucks sped out of the Lions' Gate, on the eastern wall of the Old City,
towards the adjacent Kidron Valley, in order to complete the dumping
as fast as possible. The Jerusalem police had knowledge of the Waqf's
actions, but did not say anything in an effort to "keep the peace". A
senior archaeologist told television reporter Benny Liss, "There has
been no bigger blow to the Temple Mount since the destruction of the
Temple itself."

On Wednesday morning, Yehuda Etzion, leader of the Chai Vekaiyam
movement which is fighting for the right of Jewish freedom of worship on
the Mount, accompanied by several persons including an archaeologist,
began sifting through the mountain of dirt. Police arrived on the scene,
accusing Etzion and his contingent of stealing archaeological artifacts.
Only during the afternoon was an agreement reached, permitting Etzion
and his colleagues to continue to sift through the mountain of dirt left
behind by the Waqf. Etzion reports that pottery and other artifacts were
found dating back to the First and Second Temples.

The Temple Mount Faithful organization on Wednesday petitioned the
High Court of Justice, calling for an order to ensure Israeli officials
observe the handling of the mountain of dirt taken from the Temple
Mount illegally by the Waqf. The petition calls for supervision of the dirt
by officials of the IAA, pointing out that archaeologists have stated with
certainty that the dirt contains artifacts dating back from the First and
Second Temples. The IAA was given until 2:30 pm on Thursday to
respond to the petition. [The final outcome was not available at press

BARAK: PEACE POSSIBLE SOON: Some form of preliminary peace
agreement could be reached with the Syrians in a matter of months,
although its full implementation might take years, Prime Minister Ehud
Barak estimated Saturday. Talks are expected to resume on 3 January
2000. In an interview on Channel 2's MEET THE PRESS, Barak
repeatedly stressed that he had not made any promises to the Syrians
regarding a withdrawal from all of the Golan Heights in advance of the
talks, but that, at the same time, he is not planning to ignore the
agreements reached by previous governments. Barak added that the
Syrians had proved over time, in their contacts with Israel, a "high
degree of integrity."

In another development, the United States, on the eve of renewed peace
negotiations between Damascus and Jerusalem, refused to confirm
reports that Syria is testing chemical weapons. The reports stemmed
from US intelligence sources and were published in the WASHINGTON
TIMES earlier this month. "I haven't seen that story so I can't really
comment on it," State Department Middle East mediator Dennis Ross
told a briefing on 10 December. Syria is currently on the State
Department's list of terrorist States.

HOW GOOD IS ASSAD'S WORD? Daniel Pipes, the Director of the
Middle East Forum and the author of three books about Syria,
discussed Syrian President Hafez Assad's trustworthiness in a recent
article in COMMENTARY magazine entitled, "The Word of Hafez al-
Assad," Pipes, through painstaking presentation, demonstrates that if
anything, Assad can be relied upon not to keep his word. While US
President Clinton, former Israeli PM Shimon Peres, Barak and THE
NEW YORK TIMES hail Assad as a "man of his word," history reveals
otherwise. Syrian troops were first stationed in Lebanon in 1976. As part
of the 1976 Riyadh-Cairo accords, Damascus agreed to withdraw its
troops. In 1982 Syria signed the Fez declaration committing itself to
negotiating with Lebanon for the withdrawal of Syrian troops. In 1989
Syria once again committed to a major redeployment. As Pipes says:

Alan may not have been in Seattle, but I was. The fact is, the much larger
body of affinity groups that had planned (and was successful in)
non-violently blockading the WTO delegates -- including myself -- knew of
the plans of the window-breakers. They announced it at various meetings,
and it was one of the debates within the overall body of some 1,000 people:
How does a movement deal with a subgroup within it which generally supports
the ideals and strategy of the larger body, but announces that it will
employ tactics that the overwhelming majority don't wish to engage in and
actually oppose at that time? Do we call the cops? Do we police them
ourselves? Do we let circumstances take their course? There was no
agreement on any of this, except that we would not call the cops on anyone.
It would just become part of an ongoing discussion. Throughout the prior
week, this discussion raged through the direct action circles in Seattle,
although it was, most certainly, hardly the only thing we were occupied
with.

There is no doubt that the Seattle police knew not only of the window
breakers' plans, but of those of every cluster of affinity groups as well.
As soon as you walked into the main room of 420 Denny St., which the Direct
Action Network and Art and Revolution worked out of, and which was central
headquarters for all of the nonviolent blockade actions, you'd see a huge
map of the convention center area covering an 8-foot-square wall, with
affinity group clusters designated by letters A-Z in "pie-slices"
sectioning off the spots they would occupy on November 30. Since the police
were officially and unofficially in-and-out of that location throughout the
week, any thought that the cops did not know what was being planned -- even
to the point of having extensive knowledge of each and every affinity group
cluster --  is ridiculous. Which is why they let 420 Denny remain open;
they had full access to all the decisions being made at the nerve center.
Why shut it down and make their job so much more difficult, as well as
scatter affinity groups throughout the community?

And so we end up with the absurdity of people like Medea Benjamin, of
Global Exchange, calling for the police to arrest the window breakers! In
the name of non-violence! What an outrage. I am calling for a total boycott
of Global Exchange and all of its activities until Medea seriously
apologizes for her actions. Did she think the police would be less violent
than those who broke a couple of windows -- at superstores (no small or
"family" stores were touched) built on the blood of sweatshop workers and
superexploited labor, such as Nike?

When you get down to it, a dozen windows or so were busted. Coming from New
York, what's the big deal? The real danger was the stones bouncing back at
the demonstrators from plastic windows! What an absurd scene, as protesters
dove out of the way of the richocheting rocks! No stores were burned to the
ground. No people were physically assaulted by the demonstrators, not even
by the window-breakers. No burning dumpsters were pushed through the
windows. And very little looting took place -- the windows were done in for
political reasons, not for personal economic aggrandizement. I refused to
take part in those actions NOT because I am against those activities in
principle, but because our non-violent blockade was far more effective and
powerful. And window-breaking is hardly adequate for what the
mass-murderers who own Nike, The Gap, Banana Republic, and Old Navy
actually deserve. (The latter three companies are all owned by the
notorious Fischer family, which not only profits from sweatshop misery in
Southeast Asia but has been clearcutting the last oldgrowth forests in the
Northwest US.) The motives for targeting those particular stores are clear
as Julia Butterfly's heroic tree-sit, and those targets were announced
ahead of time. The anti-sweatshop coalition and environmental groups have
repeatedly targeted those same stores here in New York, and throughout the
country.

Interestingly, in one of the local corporate papers, a reporter asked some
of those whom she recognized from the window-breaking the day before, why
they were out marching with the Teamsters and other union members. "It's
not like all we do is break windows," came the reply. Hey, these are our
comrades!! Medea and the others (Norman Solomon, too? Oh, Norman!) have
just placed themselves on the other side of the class divide.

This is absurd. These examples you give are the RESULTS of retrofitting
the mythological Jesus by taking " prophesies " out of the ( Jewish ) Bible
and making Him seem to fit. The NT writers made so many stupid and
contradictory mistakes doing this, that the resulting Jesus is one that
only a desperate or non thinking true believer can believe.

dates we've been testing are 2/29/00-3/1/00 (software that may have been
retrofitted for the yearend date turnover may fail to recognize 2/29/00,
and go from 2/28 to 3/1); and 10/10/00 (the first date in 2000 to require
a full 6-digit field)...

If any of these dates DO cause glitches, rest assured it will as

Perhaps...but 'adultery', as defined in the Bible itself, is an act that
only married people can commit...adultery is cheating on one's spouse.
An unmarried person cannot, by the Bible's own definition, be an
adulterer or adulteress...although they may be guilty of fornication...
even if they have sexual relations with a person who is married.  The
married person is guilty of adultery, their unmarried person is guilty of
fornication, not adultery (since by being single, they cannot commit
adultery by the Bible's definiton of the word).

Even The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines adultery as:  sexual
unfaithfulness of a married person.

So you see, an unmarried person is incapable of committing adultery
(altho they may be guilty of causing another person to commit it).

I'm only relating what was in the article, which speculated that
Phoenicia was comprised mostly of Israelite immigrants, and acted as

How big do I think their ships were?  I can only go by the archeological
evidence, which shows them to be as big as other countries' ships of the
era, but somewhat more sleek and hence faster and more maneverable.
There is no question that Phoenica had the upperhand when it came to
seafaring of the era...

Thor Heyerdahl proved that Egyptian boats made out of reeds could have
made it to the New World, therefore the infinitely more seaworthy
Phoenician ships could have, also...

Hydes Blind Eye: Contras &
Cocaine

   By Dennis Bernstein & Leslie Kean

   Henry Hyde, who starred as chief House
   manager in President Clinton's impeachment,
   played a very different role a decade earlier.

   In 1987, instead of the grim prosecutor set on punishing
   Clinton for his sex-and-lies offenses, Hyde was the glib
   defense attorney searching for reasons to spare
   President Reagan from possible impeachment over the
   Iran-contra scandal and related drug crimes implicating
   the Nicaraguan contra army.

   As a member of the congressional Iran-contra
   committee, Hyde vigorously defended Reagans
   Iran-contra activities and steered the panel away from
   any serious investigation of the contra-cocaine
   connection.

   The suppression of that contra-cocaine probe, in
   particular, proved crucial in shielding Reagan and his vice
   president, George Bush, from blame for a policy that
   fueled America's cocaine pandemic and wreaked havoc
   on cities across the nation.

   While it is not clear exactly what Hyde knew about the
   contra-cocaine corruption in 1987, government
   investigators already had collected strong evidence of
   widespread criminality.

   The contra-cocaine issue had surfaced publicly in 1985
   and had become the subject of a Senate inquiry in 1986.
   Even earlier, the CIA and the Drug Enforcement
   Administration were aware of the contra-cocaine
   problem.

   Those early suspicions have now been proved out. Last
   year, CIA inspector general Frederick Hitz issued a
   lengthy report admitting that drug traffickers permeated
   the contra movement from its inception in the early
   1980s and that contra-cocaine smuggling continued
   throughout the decade. [For details on Hitzs report, see
   Robert Parry's Lost History.]

   According to the CIA inspector general's report, the
   evidence showed that from the start, the CIA knew the
   contras were involved in "criminal activities," including
   terrorist bombings, hijackings and narcotics trafficking.

   By 1981, contra operatives had delivered their first
   shipment of cocaine to the United States, the report
   revealed. The inspector general also confirmed that drug
   traffickers from the Medellin cartel secretly collaborated
   with contra operatives to pump money into the contra
   war.

   We now know, too, that in 1982, Reagan's first attorney
   general, William French Smith, gave the CIA legal
   clearance to work with drug traffickers without a
   requirement to report on their criminal activities.

   This so-called "memorandum of understanding" was
   effectively a carte blanche for the CIA to ignore drug
   operatives working in the contra movement as well as
   other CIA-backed projects.

   Though now confirmed by the CIAs inspector general
   and other investigators, the contra-cocaine charges
   were a matter of heated denials in the mid-1980s --
   when the drug smuggling actually was taking place.

   "The government made a secret decision to sacrifice a
   part of the American population for the contra effort,"
   testified Washington attorney Jack Blum before the
   Senate Intelligence Committee in 1996. Blum had been
   special counsel to Sen. John Kerry's Senate Foreign
   Relations subcommittee on terrorism and narcotics.

   Reagan administration officials also were "quietly
   undercutting law enforcement and human-rights agencies
   that might have caused them difficulty," Blum stated.
   "Policy makers absolutely closed their eyes to the
   criminal behavior of the contras."

   From his twin perch on the House Intelligence
   Committee and the congressional Iran-contra panel,
   Henry Hyde was especially well positioned to stop
   potential threats to the contras from law-enforcement
   officials and congressional investigators who were
   compiling the evidence.

   Hydes spot at the nexus of information made him one of
   President Reagans most important defenders.

   One of the Illinois Republicans principal contributions to
   the contra-cocaine cover-up was his championing of a
   bogus 1987 investigative report largely clearing the

About Voice Stress Analysis

Voice Stress Analysis is a type of lie detector which measures stress in a
person's voice. That makes it recordable, and means it can be used on tape
recordings older than VSA technology itself is.
The use of Voice Stress Analysis (VSA) as a lie detector became popular in
thelate 1970s and 80s. Today, American employees are protected from VSA in
the[ Employee Polygraph Protection
Act ], and police recruits must submit to VSAverification of statements
made on the employment application according to the[ California Highway
Patrol ] and [
Palm Beach Police Department ] web sites.
On the web site of the [ Missouri State Fire
Marshal ] this quote is found:

Several Division investigators are also trained in the operation of
Computerized Voice Stress Analysis equipment. This equipment has proven to be
invaluable during follow-up investigations.

These official web sites, and many more not listed here, argue that important
peoplein law enforcement believe VSA works well. On the other side of the
argument is the[ Department
of Defense's Official 1996 Position Statement on VSA ], which states that it
doesn't work at all, according to their studies. Hmmm...
The California Penal Code 637.3 includes this:

(a) No person or entity in this State shall use any system which examines
or records in any manner voice prints or voice stress patterns of another
person to determine the truth or falsity of statements made by such person
without his or her express written consent given in advance of the examination
or recordation.

There two other smaller sections, one giving police the right to do this
without anyones permission, and the other is the fine of $1,000 or actual
damages.
This law makes it illegal for anyone in California, except for law
enforcement officials and foriegn diplomats (immunity), to use VSA devices on
radio or TV programs. Try getting President Clinton's written consent!

Really! Try to get it!

Phone his telephone staff and ask for a blanket VSA waiver for all his past
and future "public" statements. Ask why you can't have one. Ask for one from
your local reps too.
In both principle and execution VSA is a simple technology. Researchers found
that frequencies in the human voice in the 8 to 12 Hz range are sensitive to
honesty. When a person is being honest the average sound in that range is
generally below 10 Hz, but is usually above 10 Hz in dishonest situations.
All muscles in the body, including the vocal chords, vibrate in the 8 to 12
Hz range. This is considered a feedback loop, similar to a thermostat/heater
that will maintain an average temperature by raising the temperature a little
above the setting, switch off, and not come back on until the temp is a little
below it. Just as the temperature swings up and down over time, so too do the
muscles tighten and loosen as they seek to maintain a constant tension. This is
known to be caused by the production and release of a chemical, as explained in
the Scientific American Article "Psychological Tremor" Vol. 224, No. 3, 1971. In
moments of stress, like when you tell a lie that you dare not get caught at, the
body prepares for fight or flight by increasing the readyness of its muscles to
spring into action. Their vibration increases from the relaxed 8 to 9 Hz, to the
stressful 11 to 12 Hz range.
Such vibrations are a measure of stress, levels of which change from moment
